Summary
On the Kuja fighting arena, Luffy duels the two Gorgon Sisters — Sandersonia (Snake-Snake Fruit, Anaconda Model) and Marigold (Snake-Snake Fruit, King Cobra Model) — a fight he insists is to free the petrified warrior Marguerite. The watching Snake Princess Hancock dismisses the match as a public execution and orders her sisters to “let him fall victim to the war dance.” The sisters read Luffy’s every move with Haki, shrug off his rubber attacks (a kick with the right leg still hurts him), and mock outer-sea fighters who “don’t know how to use Haki.” When the sisters move to crush the stone Marguerite as Luffy’s “punishment,” his fury detonates as an invisible force — Conqueror’s Haki — that drops the surrounding Kuja warriors unconscious. The crowd recognizes it as “the Haki of the Supreme King,” a power “only one in millions” of “the chosen ones” possess, which only Hancock herself was known to wield — declaring Luffy a “natural born king” who “hasn’t learned to control it yet.” Luffy steels himself: from now on, he won’t hold back.
New reveals
- Conqueror’s Haki named & attributed to Luffy. His involuntary will-burst knocks out the watching warriors; the crowd calls it “the Haki of the chosen ones / the Supreme King,” held by “only one in millions” (pp. 18-19).
- Hancock is a confirmed Conqueror’s-Haki user — “the only one I’ve ever known who could use that Haki” (p. 19). Luffy “is like” her.
- “Haki” named and given a working definition — a skill that lets the user read/predict an opponent’s movements; “most people from the outer oceans” lack it and “that’s why they’re so weak” (pp. 10, 12).
- Gorgon Sisters’ Devil Fruits: Sandersonia = Snake-Snake Fruit, Anaconda Model; Marigold = Snake-Snake Fruit, King Cobra Model (both Zoan) (p. 2).
- The sisters carry the proud legend of having “defeated the Gorgon” and being beautiful “even in their accursed form” — their “curse” presented as proof of glory (p. 2).
- The Snake Princess Hancock is the eldest of the three Gorgon Sisters; she commands the arena and is revered absolutely (“all the women of our nation look up to the Snake Princess,” p. 16).

Open questions raised
- What is Haki, and what distinguishes the rare “Supreme King” strand that “only one in millions” possess? How is it controlled?
- How does the Snake Princess Hancock come to wield this kingly Haki?
- What is the real truth behind the Gorgon Sisters’ “curse” / the legend they “defeated the Gorgon”?
