Note-name pin: canonical note name Big Pan; the VIZ ch.309 on-page caption reads “Big Bun the Fish-Giant” (recorded as
name_viz+ alias). Do not fork a separateBig Bunnote.
Profile
A colossal member of the Foxy Pirates’ Groggy Ring squad, the “Groggy Monsters.” Introduced on-page Ch. 309 (p. 18) as “half fish-man and half giant” — VIZ caption “Big Bun the Fish-Giant” (canonical name Big Pan). The rearmost/anchor of the three-man lineup; towers over the field (“That fish-man is huge!” p. 19). His dual fish-man + giant lineage is notable — cross-link Fish-Men and Giants Lifespan And Race.
Arc-by-arc updates
Long Ring Long Land — Groggy Ring climax (Ch. 312)
- Anchors the lethal three-step “Monster Burger” finisher (pp. 4–6) — orders “One Monster Burger, please!!” (p. 4) and smashes the “ball” “between two slices of big bun” (p. 6).
- Manipulated by Sanji into his own teammates’ weapons (p. 13: turned into Pickles’ spinning swords), kicked upright (“Kick Course”), then launched skyward (“Armée de l’Air”) and slammed by Zoro into the Foxy goal ring — Big Pan becomes, ironically, the scoring “ball” (“GOOOAAALLL!!”, pp. 16–19). Round 2 lost.
Long Ring Long Land — Groggy Ring “Rough Game” (Ch. 311)
- Plays Round 2 of the Davy Back Fight (the Groggy Ring) as the Foxy team’s slippery fish-giant, alongside Hamburg and Pickles, vs ball-men Zoro and Sanji.
- His “Mudfish Slippery Slide” evasion (skin too slick to grab/strike) frustrates the Straw Hats (pp. 9–10) — captioned here as the “giant slippery fish-man” Groggy Monster (this is the same Big Pan; VIZ caption per-chapter varies). The Monsters dominate the match this chapter.
Long Ring Long Land — Groggy Ring (Ch. 309)
- Named/shown as a Groggy Monster (half fish-man / half giant, p. 18); takes the field for Round 2 of the Davy Back Fight (the Groggy Ring) vs. Zoro and Sanji, alongside Hamburg and Pickles.
Long Ring Long Land — Groggy Ring (Ch. 310)
- Plays the Groggy Ring as the Foxy team’s powerhouse; described as “not as big as a pure giant” (p. 6).
- Mudfish blood → slick, slippery skin: Sanji’s kick (“Collier…”) slides off him (pp. 12–13).
- Moves shown: “Punk Pass” (super-long pass, pp. 13–14) and “Punk Dig” (scoop-and-relaunch, p. 16).
Notes
- Etymology: ビッグパン = “Big” + パン (pan, bread/bun); VIZ localizes “Pan” → “Bun.” Fits the Foxy crew’s “Groggy Monsters” culinary naming set (Hamburg / Pickles / Big Pan).
- Race: explicitly “half fish-man and half giant” on-page (@0309 p. 18) — cross-link Fish-Men and Giants Lifespan And Race.
