Summary

The chapter opens by closing the Calgara/Noland flashback as it is narrated to the present-day Shandians: the great warrior Calgara kept shouting “Bring back the light of Shandora!” because he believed his friend Noland would hear the sound of Shandora’s bell — “but that bell did not ring,” and Noland died in the Blue Sea praising Shandora while still branded a “liar.” Calgara’s “biggest regret” is that those feelings never reached his friend. A child asks: “If we rang it now, would it reach Noland? …The sound of that bell?” — and Wyper, hearing all this, stands frozen. The narrative then cuts to the present: the Raigo thundercloud rumbles ever larger and Enel, riding the Ark Maxim, opens his bombardment of Skypiea — “This is the sky… this is the domain of the Kami!! Turn all of it into rain that falls over the Blue Sea!!” He blasts the Shandian village and Angel Island with lightning, demanding everything “go back to where you belong,” and methodically punches holes in the White-White Sea (Heaven’s Gate / the cloud floor) so that the islands’ people — and the buried city of Shandora below — fall through to the Blue Sea. Conis and Pagaya are caught in the chaos; mass evacuation to the ships is ordered (Captain McKinley is told to treat the injured). Enel then names his true endgame: “There’s just one last thing I want from this country… The Golden Bell.” Robin’s group works out that the giant vine pierced the Shandora city center, entwined with the bell tower, and forced it up — so the Golden Bell is near the top of the giant vine. Luffy, racing toward Enel, declares: “ENERU!!! There’s no way I’m giving you that Golden Bell…”

New reveals

• Calgara’s last act and regret are spelled out. He died shouting “Bring back the light of Shandora!”, believing Noland would hear the bell — “but that bell did not ring” (p. 4–5). His biggest regret: “the fact that those feelings never reached his friend” (p. 5). Noland, too, “died a glorious death in this sky” (in the legend’s framing) before Calgara’s feelings could reach him.
• A Shandian child asks the load-bearing question: “If we rang it now, do you think it would reach Noland? …The sound of that bell?” (p. 5) — re-arming the unrung bell as the arc’s emotional payload.
• Enel begins the destruction of Skypiea from the Ark Maxim (p. 8–12): lightning bombardment of the village and Angel Island; “Turn all of it into rain that falls over the Blue Sea!!”, “Kill every last person in the sky!!”, “Return to your true place, Skypiea!”

• Will the Golden Bell finally be rung — and if so, by whom (Luffy, or the Shandians fulfilling Calgara’s wish)? The child’s question (“would it reach Noland?”) makes the bell-ring the explicit catharsis the arc is steering toward. Not rung this chapter.
• How does Luffy reach the bell “near the top” of the giant vine before Enel claims it / before the island falls?
• The growing thundercloud (the unnamed Raigo) — how large will it get, and what is Enel’s full plan for it beyond the lightning bombardment shown here?
• Do Conis, Pagaya, and the evacuating Skypieans escape the holed cloud floor?

• Chapter 293 has no cover-comic (side-serial) page in this capture. Pages 1–2 are the color spread; page 20 is SBS; page 21 is the next chapter’s (294) title splash.
