The seed
On p. 13 a bell-shaped gold ingot salvaged by Mont Blanc Cricket’s alliance is explicitly matched to “the part about the bell” in Mont Blanc Noland’s ship’s log, proving the City of Gold existed. Bellamy mocks it as worthless and declares “El Dorado was a fantasy.”
The payoff

The bell motif is a Chekhov prop expected to pay off in Skypiea with Shandora’s Golden Bell ringing in the sky — Oda inverting the villain’s “dreams never come true” with a literal, recovered relic of the legend. Why this matters
A textbook prop-tell: Oda hands the reader physical proof of the legend in the same panel the villain dismisses it as fantasy. The bell-shaped ingot is the first tangible evidence that Noland was no liar, seeding the Skypiea Golden-Bell payoff. The villain’s certainty that “El Dorado was a fantasy” is exactly the belief Oda will invert.
