- えびす町 (Ebisu-machi / Ebisu-chō). Named for Ebisu (恵比寿 / 戎), one of the Shichifukujin (Seven Gods of Fortune) — patron of fishermen, commerce and luck, famously 'the laughing god,' depicted beaming and mirthful in spite of his hardships. Japanese has the everyday idiom 恵比寿顔 (ebisu-gao), 'an Ebisu face' = a broad, beaming smile — the very phrase the chapter coins on-page for the town's perpetual grin (a 'smilin' face' is locally called an 'Ebisu face,' the stated source of the town's name). An impoverished town on the outskirts of the Flower Capital that subsists on the capital’s leftover scraps (poorer even than Okobore Town in Kuri), home of the sycophant Tonoyasu. Named for Ebisu, the Japanese god of fortune; locals call a permanent grin an “Ebisu face.”
