Sky / cloud-sea entrance · first appeared: Ch. 238
Profile
The official toll/registration entrance from the White Sea (lower cloud sea) up to the upper stratum (Skypiea / White-White Sea). A huge arched gate at the base of a cloud “waterfall,” with a sign reading “HEAVEN’S GATE” (splash, p.14). Staffed by inspector Amazon, who photographs entrants and collects the one-billion-extol-per-person entry fee. A giant “Lobster Express” surfaces here to carry ships up the waterfall to the upper stratum (pp.16–17). The inspector is positioned as a registrar, not an enforcer.
Etymology
Descriptive, theme-name. The arched toll-gate from the lower White Sea up into the upper “heaven” (Skypiea / “Godland”) evokes the gates of Heaven / “pearly gates” of Christian imagery — you pay a “billion-extol” toll and are “registered” before ascending, a wry bureaucratic twist on entering paradise. One node in Skypiea’s heaven/sky/angel naming web. No deeper encoded pun is sourced; confidence medium.
