Mr. 3 self-introduces with codename and wax-power doctrine (“My codename is Mr. 3. I work with wax. And this is my assistant Ms. Golden Week, an artist of gravity.” p. 10) on-page to Brogy, confirming the codename-as-public-self-identification grammar of the Mystery-doctrine operates at the Officer-Agent tier. The Ch. 110 / Ch. 119 boss-identity-secrecy persists across the new pair — neither Mr. 3 nor Miss Goldenweek mentions the boss-name to the giants (only the secret register, deferred to forward chapters). First on-page extension of the Baroque Works numbered-rank hierarchy beyond a single pair, with secrecy-doctrine intact. Mr. 3 (gloating over the photograph-dossier of all five targets): “As for the small fry who’ve learned our boss’s secret, well… with my service set, we can lure them into the jungle and pick them off one at a time.” The boss-identity-mystery deepens into a boss-has-a-specific-secret register — the targets are wanted not merely for being witnesses, but for having learned a discrete piece of intel. Sister-tier confirmation that the boss-identity-mystery operates at multiple operational layers : lower-rank agents (Mr. 5, Miss Valentine — Ch. 110) hunt the targets without knowing what the secret is; higher-rank agents (Mr. 3, Miss Goldenweek — Ch. 119) hunt under the same blind-protocol but reference the secret explicitly as the targets’ offense. Even at Officer-Agent tier, the boss-identity remains compartmentalized — Mr. 3 knows there is a secret but does not name the boss. Ch. 118 page 14 — Mr. 3’s mission-perfection register reinforces the off-page-boss doctrine
Mr. 3: “We’re professionals. To lose to the enemy and leave corpses lying around…is like announcing our existence to the world. We have to execute our missions perfectly.” — extends the Ch. 0110 Mystery motto with the mission-perfection register : visible failures threaten the boss’s identity-secrecy. The doctrine pre-loads Crocodile’s later failure-is-death register. The Ch. 0117 Orders from the boss paper directive beat now has a second register — not just boss-communicates-via-written-orders , but also boss’s-identity-can-be-leaked-by-visible-failures . Mr. 3 receives a paper directive (PLUNK!! ) from the boss without ever meeting the boss in person — cross-confirming the Ch. 110 Mystery / compartmentalized-identity doctrine from a second independent Officer Agent’s POV . The boss communicates via written orders, not in person. Goldenweek: ‘Why didn’t you tell me!!!?’ Mr. 3: ‘Orders from the boss.’ The doctrine is org-wide , not just a Mr. 5 idiolect. Ms. All-Sunday first on-page name-drop carries warning-source-tier authority
Vivi (briefing the crew on Little Garden’s monsters): “I’m worried about what Ms. All-Sunday said. We’ve got to be careful.” First on-page name-drop of Ms. All-Sunday (Robin’s Baroque-Works alias; on-page debut Ch. 0114). The way Vivi cites her — as a credible warning-source about a Grand-Line island’s dangers — installs Ms. All-Sunday as a Baroque-Works agent whose information overrides the Officer-Agent tier (Mr. 5 / Miss Valentine, who did not warn the Straw Hats about Little Garden). Pre-loads Ms. All-Sunday as the Vice-President of Baroque Works — the one agent who knows the boss’s identity — making her warnings carry boss-tier authority . Ch. 114 p. 9 —
Mr. 0 / Mr. Zero codename installed; Miss All Sunday is the sole compartment-break
Vivi (frantic exposition for the Strawhats): ”…AND FOUND OUT WHO THE BOSS WAS!!! SO WE FOLLOWED HER… SHE WAS THE ONLY ONE WHO KNEW THE BOSS’S TRUE IDENTITY. SHE’S MR. ZERO’S PARTNER!!” First on-page utterance of Mr. 0 / Mr. Zero as the boss-slot codename at the top of the numbered Baroque Works hierarchy. Miss All Sunday is canonized as the only Baroque Works member who knows the boss’s true identity — the single compartment-break above the Ch. 110 Mystery -motto secrecy floor. The Ch. 110 the boss’s secret is out line now reads as: the secret was that Miss All Sunday let Vivi follow her to learn the boss’s identity .
Ch. 114 p. 14 —
Sir Crocodile named on-page for the first time
Miss All Sunday: “YOU’LL NEVER REACH ALABASTA… OR SEE SIR CROCODILE’S FACE.” First on-page utterance of the name Sir Crocodile in the entire series. The line is encoded but not yet decoded : the Strawhats (and a first-time reader) hear Sir Crocodile as someone-in-Alabasta-they-won’t-meet, not as the boss-identity Vivi has been investigating. Forward-payoff: when Crocodile is canonically revealed as Mr. 0 (Ch. 155+) and as a Shichibukai (Ch. 155+), this Ch. 114 utterance retroactively keys to the same person; the Sir honorific is the Shichibukai-affixed title Miss All Sunday alone uses because she alone knows.
Ch. 113 page 9 — Vivi names Sir Crocodile as the boss, one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea
Vivi (defensive-outburst at Nami’s “if he wants to take over a whole kingdom, he must be one scary guy!!” ): ”…YOU’RE NO MATCH FOR SIR CROCODILE, ONE OF THE SEVEN WARLORDS OF THE SEA!!!” Zoro’s deadpan “You just told us…” canonizes the comic-reveal-pattern. The Ch. 0107 / 0109 boss-identity-mystery is resolved on-page at the name-anchor level. The reveal is delivered by the defecting infiltrator-princess , not by Crocodile himself or by any Baroque-Works insider — the chapter’s structural irony is that the boss-secret is broken from the outside , by the one agent the Mystery doctrine could not anticipate. Vivi: “His code name is Mr. Zero. Ch. 109 — page 2 —
the boss left the town in our care — first off-page personal-accountability beat
Mr. 9: “How disgraceful. …After the boss left the town in our care. Losing to a lone pirate swordsman… This means we’ve failed him.” Reinforces the Ch. 0107 boss-identity-mystery install — the Whisky-Peak garrison officers refer to the boss as a recognized superior who commissioned the town’s defense and to whom they are personally accountable , even though they themselves do not know the boss’s identity. The we’ve failed him construction installs the personal-accountability register that contrasts with Crocodile’s later disposable-officers register — tragic-irony seed. Mr. 9 (page 6, at the Unluckies-mailbox courier dispatch): “I hope that puts us back in the boss’s good graces.” Zoro (page 13, in his rooftop confrontation with Igarappoi enumerating the organization’s structural properties): “the identity of the boss and his whereabouts are a mystery to everyone.” The chapter explicitly canonizes the boss-identity-mystery — agents themselves do not know who they report to . Reports route through the Unluckies otter-and-vulture courier-channel to the unknown boss.
Ch. 0160 — Boss-identity-mystery reaffirmed from inside the top-Officer-Agent tier
Ch. 160 p. 19 — Doublefinger names the boss-face-unknown register on behalf of the top-Officer-Agent tier
Doublefinger: “The one we call ‘Boss,’ whose face we’ve never seen, is waiting for us there.” Officer-Agent-tier reaffirmation of the Mystery doctrine. Only Miss All Sunday is the compartment-break (Ch. 0114). Pre-loads the Alabasta-saga arc-villain reveal : Mr. 0 = Sir Crocodile, the Warlord (~Ch. 174). Forward-pattern: the mystery-boss template is reused across the series for every later shadow-org reveal:
