Sabaody Archipelago — Iron Mask Duval, full on-page intro (Ch. 492)

• Full on-page introduction: title-page and a seated intro splash (p. 4 caption: “IRON MASK DUVAL — Kidnapper, Boss of the Flying Fish Riders”). Wears an iron mask with bull-like horns; speaks with a thick country accent when agitated (pp. 5-7).
• Restates his vendetta against an unidentified man aboard the Straw Hats’ ship who “ruined mah whole life” — feels it “like a scar in the middle of mah back” (pp. 4-5) — and intends to kill the man by his own hand. • Hired the fish-man Macro Gang (boss Macro) to capture the pirates and the mermaid Camie; his base — a town built out at sea east of the Sabaody Archipelago — is established as Flying Fish Riders’ Hideout.

Sabaody Archipelago — the mask comes off; Duval’s tragedy (Ch. 494)

• Charges the Straw Hats at the Flying Fish Riders’ Hideout on his iron-masked bison Motobaro (“Duval’s Beloved Bison”), wielding poison-tipped Scorpion Harpoons whose venom kills within three minutes (pp. 10-13).
• The grudge revealed. Luffy rips off Duval’s iron mask (“KLUNK…!!”, pp. 15-16): his bare face is the exact likeness of the crude hand-drawn sketch on Sanji’s wanted poster. Mistaken for the pirate “Black Foot Sanji,” Duval was hunted by the Navy and bounty hunters for years until his life was ruined — “Ah ain’t even a pirate!” (pp. 16-19). • He has never actually met Sanji (“Ah don’t even know the guy!”), who answers the sob story with a kick (p. 19).

Sabaody Archipelago — defeated by Sanji’s Parage Shot (Ch. 495)

Sabaody Archipelago — restored, allied, departs (Ch. 496)

• Now handsome after Sanji restructured his face; catches the departing Sunny to thank the crew, declaring “It’s me, handsome!! …No, I mean Duval!!” (pp. 4-5).
• Renames the Flying Fish Riders the “Rosy Life Riders” and gives the crew his Transponder Snail number (“Call me anytime, I’m sure to be useful!!”), then departs as an ally (p. 7).

Sabaody Archipelago — “Handsome” & Operation Rescue Camie (Ch. 500)

• Now calls himself “Handsome” and leads the renamed Rosy Life Riders in “Operation Rescue Camie,” gathering up the Straw Hats and ferrying them on flying fish to hunt the kidnap teams after Camie is taken (pp. 2-3, 6-7, 11-13).

Sabaody Archipelago — ferrying the rescue (Ch. 501)

• His Rosy Life Riders fly Sanji and Chopper toward the auction; Duval walks Sanji through the slave price list and the trafficking economy (pp. 7, 9-11).

Sabaody Archipelago — covers the breakout (Ch. 505)

• Arrives with his Rosy Life Riders to cover the Straw Hats’ escape from town; eager to leave (“we’re ready to escape!! Right, men?!!”) (pp. 14-15, 17).

Sabaody Archipelago — the send-off (Ch. 506)

• His gang, renamed the Rosy Life Riders (“Life is Rosy Riders!!”), see the Straw Hats off and vow to help them set sail to Fish-Man Island safely; Duval returns the crew’s stolen belongings (a knapsack) and the mermaid Camie’s recovered item that “that idiot Peterman had” (pp. 6-7). Running gag: Duval’s incessant winking.

Sabaody Archipelago — guarding the Sunny (Ch. 514)

• Posts his Rosy Life Riders to guard the docked Thousand Sunny at Grove 41 until the coating craftsman arrives, worried a “diversion” might be a ploy to steal the ship (p. 2).

Post-War — guarding the Sunny (Ch. 593)

• Leads the Flying Fish Riders in defending the Thousand Sunny at Grove 44 from pirates trying to seize “the son of Dragon’s” ship: “As long as I’m alive, nobody will be allowed to touch this ship!” — with his usual vanity (“I am the handsome Duval!”) (pp. 12–14).

Return to Sabaody (Ch. 598)

• Reappears at Shakky’s bar; his Rosy Life Riders guarded the Thousand Sunny for the full two years (“Through rain and shine, storm and snow, I stood my ground and protected the ship… day after day,” pp.17-18). Reunites/jostles with the returning crew, still smitten with Nami.

Fish-Man Island descent — referenced (Ch. 603) — mention only

• Mentioned: his injury defending the crew at Sabaody is the parallel for Hachi’s — both had to return to Fish-Man Island for treatment, “It’s the same as Duval!” (p. 13).

• Etymology : “Duval” = French du val (“of the valley”); epithet “Iron Mask Duval” + French surname references “The Man in the Iron Mask” (Dumas) — a masked prisoner who is a face-double, paying off in-window as the Sanji-wanted-poster look-alike reveal (@0494–0495).
