Summary

Cover-story Vol. 13 of Koby and Helmeppo’s Chronicle of Toil — ‘Artillery Attack’: from inside a Marine gun-battery, two Marines in 正義 JUSTICE-kanji capes (the Ch. 96-installed Absolute-Justice uniform, here on-page outside Marine HQ for the first time) aim a massive cannon out to sea at a fleeing Marine boat with a tiny MARINE-sailed silhouette in the distance. A chibi-Helmeppo silhouette above the parapet: HELP!! GAH-AAAN!! — Marine artillery is firing on the boat carrying their own escaped fugitive (Morgan, Vol. 12) and his chore-boy escort.

At the execution scaffold in the central plaza (pages 3-4), Luffy stares up in awe at the white-stone Loguetown city-hall and the wood scaffold-platform between its wings. Crowd narration around him: “THE EXECUTION SCAFFOLD… THAT’S WHERE GOLD ROGER… …WAS EXECUTED. THE GREATEST PIRATE OF ALL TIME… …DIED RIGHT THERE.” Caption: “THIS IS WHERE… …THE GREAT AGE OF PIRATES BEGAN.” The Ch. 1 series-opening execution-flashback location is here visited on-page by the protagonist.

Cut (page 4 middle tier) to Zoro alone in a Roguetown street, head-down, fist-clenched (DOOB!!): “I WAS SO WEAK. DARN IT!” He turns over the Ch. 96 Tashigi-encounter in his head: “STILL, I WAS WEAK. I HAVE 100,000 BERRIES.” Matsu (eye-bulged shock): “TWO SWORDS FOR 100,000 BERRIES!? At which moment Tashigi enters (page 7 final tier — “WHOA!!! THAT SWORD!!!”). Matsu: “DON’T SAY IT!! DON’T SAY IT!!” Zoro: “COULD IT BE…!?
