And (page 11, holding Shigure on its rack, DOOM!!): “In any case, I’ll use my Autumn Rain… to hone my skills as a swordsman! Then I’m going to collect all the famous swords that have fallen into the hands of the evil men of the world! I’ll get the 12 Supreme Grade Swords, the 21 Excellent Grade Swords and the 40 Fine Grade Swords… even if it kills me!!”
Why this matters
Tashigi’s stated career-mission is the moral-engine of her every later combat-encounter with a named pirate-swordsman. She is literally a recovery-Marine for famous swords — the Marine-as-sword-redeemer archetype installs as a class-of-character through her.
The immediate target
Zoro carries Wado Ichimonji — one of the 21 Excellent Grade swords. Tashigi’s doctrine compels her to take it. The Ch. 97 unrecognition (page 10 — “Roronoa Zolo… I know the name well” said directly to his face) is the structural-tension setup: when Tashigi recognizes Zoro (Ch. 99-100 forward-pending), her doctrine will engage and she will attempt to take Wado.
Forward-pattern
Every later Tashigi-vs-named-swordsman beat operates through this doctrine — Daz Bonez (Mr. 1) at Alabasta, Vergo at Punk Hazard. The doctrine survives across the series; it never neutralizes.

The doctrine’s “even if it kills me” clause installs a self-described death-acceptance — a long-arc Tashigi-death-in-pursuit prediction may eventually land. (Tashigi has been a recurring character through Wano; the kills me clause remains forward-pending.)
