Daughter of dojo master Koushirou and the strongest student in her father’s dojo. Defeated Zolo 2,001 times in succession. Believed she could never become the world’s greatest swordsman because “dad says girls can’t be master swordsmen” — a belief Zolo rejected on-page. Made a mutual promise with Zolo that one of them would carry the title. Died the very next day falling down a flight of stairs at the dojo. Her death is the origin event of Zolo’s lifelong dream and the reason he carries her sword (Wado Ichimonji, revealed by name later).

• Revealed to be the granddaughter of Shimotsuki Kozaburo, the émigré Wano smith / “old man of the village” (“the day he died… I learned he was Kuina’s grandpa,” p. 11). Confirms her East-Blue Shimotsuki line descends from Wano. Her childhood promise with Zoro is re-shown (“such a great master swordsman… known even in heaven… for both of us,” p. 9).

Loguetown (Ch. 100 — posthumous) — Wado Ichimonji field-named by Tashigi; Tashigi-mirrors-Kuina spare-doctrine canonized

• Kuina’s family blade field-named on-page in active combat-context — Tashigi recognizes Zoro’s white-handle katana on Zoro’s hip in the rain-soaked Loguetown street (Ch. 100 page 10): ”…THIS SWORD TOO! / DO YOU PLAN TO COLLECT…!? …I’M GOING TO TAKE WADO ICHIMONJI AWAY FROM YOU!” The Ch. 97 book-naming is here operationalized in field-combat. The Ch. 6 white-katana inheritance now has its canonical meito name recognized by Marine-grade sword-experts by sight.
• Tashigi is revealed to be Kuina’s visual-twin as a Zoro-side load-bearing combat-grammar — the Ch. 96 design-debut now confirmed in Ch. 100 by Zoro’s spare-doctrine. Zoro cannot fight a swordswoman who wears Kuina’s face; he disarms Tashigi instantly and walks away silently in KSHHHH rain-silhouette. Loguetown (Ch. 97) — Named aloud in Zoro’s voice for the first time in ~92 chapters; Wado Ichimonji canonized on-page

• First time Kuina is named aloud in Zoro’s voice outside the Ch. 5 dojo flashback (page 4, Zoro internal monologue): “Still… I doubt I’ll see her again, though. I guess female swordsmen do exist. And she’s even a swordsman! Like two peas in a pod. It’s uncanny how much she looks like Kuina.” — ~92 chapters since her Ch. 5 introduction.
