- **Shimotsuki** (霜月) = 'frost month' (霜 *shimo* 'frost' + 月 *tsuki* 'month'), the old lunar-calendar name for the 11th month (November). A Wano daimyo lineage that served the Kozuki shogunate. The same surname is borne by Zoro's late master and his rival back in the East Blue (the Shimotsuki dojo) — recorded as a shared surname only; the Wano↔East-Blue connection is NOT stated on-page @0942 (see The Shimotsuki Name Links Wano To Zoro's Lineage).

- Furiko’s line (émigré, same founding generation as Kozaburo) — Shimotsuki Furiko, Ushimaru’s older sister, per Oda’s own SBS Vol. 105 prose (Ch. 1062 p.132) also emigrated from Wano and helped found Shimotsuki Village alongside Kozaburo’s party. A family-tree diagram on the same page (hedged — see below) further names her husband Roronoa Pinzoro and their son Roronoa Arashi as Zoro’s paternal grandfather and father, which would make Zoro and Kuina distant, mutually-unaware cousins through the shared founding generation. This specific blood-chain claim is scored refuted (0.40) by the Gauntlet’s central-claim adjudication — see Zoro Is of the Shimotsuki Line. Only Furiko herself (attested in Oda’s written SBS text) sits at full confidence; Pinzoro and Arashi rest on the diagram alone.

Establishes a daimyo house loyal to the Kozuki within Wano’s feudal structure — Yasuie of Hakumai “stood alongside Lord Oden and supported the Kozuki clan,” and dies calling himself the “final daimyo serving Kozuki.” The surname is also a latent bridge to Zoro’s East-Blue lineage.
