Pattern - chekhov-explicit - Supreme King Haki Is The Stated Counter To Covenant Immortality
The same rule has been stated in a chekhov-explicit register again and again: the undying bodies Imu’s covenant
grants the Holy Knights give way only to strikes infused with the color of the Supreme King. Each time it is said
by a different kind of speaker, and each time it is more specific. Eight Foreshadowing notes carry the strand, and
seven of them are tagged chekhov-explicit. Minted by the 2026-10-16 weave, when 1193–1195 restated the rule in
three straight chapters.
The strand, in order
| Chapter | Who states it | What is stated | Component note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ch. 1148–Ch. 1149 | the crew, about Gaban | Gaban’s cut stops a Holy Knight’s regeneration (“What? It’s not coming back”), and “That’s got to be a crucial secret!!” | Gaban’s Blade Negates the Holy Knights’ Immortality |
| Ch. 1170 pp.5–6 | Gaban, the ally | ”if these guys have any weakness, it’s against those of us who can infuse our attacks with the color of the Supreme King”. The same kill condition as Rocks at God Valley (Ch. 1165) and Harald | same (confirmed @1170) · Cursed And Controlled Monsters Are Felled By Conquerors Haki — Rocks And Harald Parallel |
| Ch. 1187 (provisional) | an old man, the mentor | Sanji “should have the potential” for Supreme King Haki: officers of a Pirate King must be kings too | Sanji’s Crippling Weakness Locks His Supreme King Haki |
| Ch. 1193 p.14 | Zoro, the fighter | ”I need to pierce his heart with a sword infused with Supreme King!!” The steel heart is the target, and Harald’s “hit me right here” (through Loki) is the dead man’s confirmation | Zoro Must Infuse Supreme King Haki To Pierce Sommers’s Steel Heart · Harald Made an Immortal Ancient-Giant Monster by the Covenant with Mu |
| Ch. 1194 p.8 | Sommers, the enemy | ”Don’t freak out. Omen is the counterpart of that power!!!” The immortals’ own power is named as Supreme King Haki’s opposite (覇気 / 魔気, one kanji apart) | Omen Is The Counterpart Of Supreme King Haki |
| Ch. 1194 pp.10–13 | Mihawk, the teacher (unnamed on-page) | Supreme King Haki “is not learned through discipline”. It is “a sense of self”. In the present, Zoro’s laced cut stops a severed hand from regrowing (“It’s not coming back!!”), the 1148 line again, now from Zoro’s side | Mihawk Teaches Zoro That Supreme King Haki Is A Sense Of Self |
| Ch. 1195 pp.2–4, 13 | Killingham, the enemy, to the one who lacks it | Zoro: “I’ve got it now!!” (the Knight: “My life is over!!”). In the same chapter Killingham tells Sanji: “You lack the color of the Supreme King!!!” | Zoro + Sanji notes above |
The source of the immortality is the covenant with the Great One (The Covenant With the Great One Grants Immortality and Binds Signers to Imu’s Voice; Depths Covenant).
What the pattern adds that no single note holds
- The speakers rotate through every role. Ally, mentor, fighter, enemy, teacher, then enemy again. Oda sets up a rule as load-bearing by letting every side confirm it, so no single speaker can be self-serving. Sommers is the telling one, because an enemy concedes the opposition.
- The rule now splits the crew’s two wings. 1195 shows the rule working (Zoro) and failing (Sanji) in one chapter. That is the parallel-arc frame for the rest of the Elbaf fights. Supreme King Haki is now a capability gate that sorts the Straw Hats’ top fighters, and not only Luffy’s trait. The notes keep the gate stated and the outcomes forward.
- The same words, 46 chapters apart. The 1148 reaction to Gaban’s cut (“What? It’s not coming back.”) is
repeated almost word for word by Zoro @1194 (“It’s not coming back!! But I didn’t do anything!!”). The student
repeats the master’s demonstration before he understands it. (The 1148 wording comes from the vault’s chapter
note, which carries no
source/viztag, so treat the exact echo as provisional.) - What is still not on the page. No covenant immortal has been shown felled by a Straw Hat. No destroyed steel heart has been shown. Sanji’s weakness is unnamed. These are the open payoffs. They are priced in Zoro Finishes Sommers With A Supreme-King-Infused Strike His Regeneration Cannot Undo and ZaZa Vanishes When Sanji Beats Killingham.
Scope fence
- Nothing here asserts anything about Imu’s nature, race or origin. That Omen is “the counterpart” is a Holy Knight’s line, recorded as his line. Whether Supreme King Haki works on Imu is not part of this pattern. See Imu Leaves Elbaf Alive Because The Descended Body Gives Out Before Anyone Beats It, which bets that the answer to Imu is not damage.
- Five Elders True Nature is linked for its agelessness sub-question. The Elders’ immortality is covenant-granted (Abyssal tier), so a stated counter to covenant immortality bears on them. No on-page statement applies the rule to the Elders.
Status
pending. The component rule (Gaban’s note) was confirmed @1170. The pattern’s prediction, that the rule decides
the Holy-Knight fights at Elbaf, is forward of 1195.
