The Holy Knights are “immortal”/undead — Nico Robin ’s spine-breaking Clutch can’t keep Sommers down (@1148). The instant Scopper Gaban That’s got to be a crucial secret!! ” The dialogue explicitly (chekhov) flags Gaban’s counter to immortality as a plot-load-bearing secret.
The payoff
Ch. 1170 pp. 5–6 — the counter is the Color of the Supreme King (Conqueror’s Haki)
Facing an immortal, monstrous foe at Elbaf, Gaban spells out the crucial secret: “if these guys have any weakness, it’s against those of us who can infuse our attacks with the color of the Supreme King — give him enough consecutive hits, and we can manage to knock him out of commission.” The same mechanic felled the cursed Rocks at God Valley — a “critical mass of Supreme King Haki” (Ch. 1165 pp. 14–15). The source of the immortality is also named: the Holy Knights’ undying bodies come from the Depths Covenant with Imu (Ch. 1168 ). Gaban’s counter to their immortality is confirmed as strikes carrying Conqueror’s Haki — the crucial secret that lets Elbaf’s defenders put the Holy Knights down.
