- Name meaning
- 飛び六胞 *Tobi Roppō* — VIZ 'Flying Six' (lit. 'Flying Six Fellows'). A homophone pun on **飛び六方** *tobi roppō* ('flying six directions'), a flamboyant stylized kabuki exit (a variation of the 六方/*roppō* aragoto walk that throws the limbs to the six directions — N/E/S/W + up/down). The most famous tobi-roppō is the warrior **Benkei's** bounding exit at the close of *Kanjinchō*. Oda swaps the third character 方 (*hō*, 'direction') → 胞 (*hō*, 'sac/cell/fellow') to keep the sound while distinguishing the pirate tier — extending the Beasts Pirates' performing-arts hierarchy (Performers / Waiters / Pleasures / Gifters / Headliners / Lead Performers) that overlays its playing-card naming.
Structural lore — an elite officer tier of Kaido’s Beasts Pirates. 飛び六胞 Tobi Roppō (“Flying Six”).
The Tobi Roppo (“Flying Six”) are an elite officer tier of Kaido’s Beasts Pirates, ranked below the three All-Stars (Lead Performers — King / Queen / Jack) and above the rank-and-file SMILE tiers (Gifters / Pleasures / Waiters). They are the six most powerful members of the Headliners tier.
What we know
- Ch. 929: Tier defined — the Tobi Roppo (“Flying Six”) are the six most powerful members of the Headliners tier (p. 17); two of them, X Drake (Allosaurus) and Page One (Spinosaurus), wield Ancient-Zoan Ryu Ryu no Mi dinosaur fruits distinct from the SMILE-based Gifters.
- Ch. 932: Named on-page — at Orochi’s banquet, the yakuza boss Kyoshiro is revealed to have “summoned Kaido’s Tobi Roppo to do your bidding” (p. 9). Members not shown.
- Ch. 978: All six members revealed individually at the Onigashima Golden Festival (pp. 15–17): Who’s-Who, Page One, Ulti, Sasaki, X Drake, Black Maria. Queen, performing as festival MC, names the full rank ladder on the live floor (Waiters / Pleasures / Gifters / Headliners / Tobi Roppo / Numbers).
- Ch. 980: The rank is established as coveted, merit-contested, and replaceable — when the disguised intruders are exposed, a Beasts leader (Queen) offers to “erase” one Tobi Roppo and hand the vacated seat to whoever captures the Worst-Generation crashers (p. 9), driving the Gifters into a frenzy. No individual member is named or shown on a Tobi-Roppo basis in 0980 itself.
- Ch. 1005: Tobi Roppo Black Maria runs a layered web-trap on the Skull Dome’s third floor to capture Nico Robin; a Tobi Roppo voice warns Jack off finishing the wounded Akazaya, asserting the kill is the Flying Six’s own job (p. 16).
Chronology / structure
- Hierarchy (top → bottom): Captain (Kaido) → All-Stars / Lead Performers (King, Queen, Jack) → Tobi Roppo (the six strongest Headliners) → Headliners (the chosen Gifters) → Gifters (the ~1-in-10 SMILE successes) → Pleasures (SMILE failures, can only laugh) → Waiters (not yet eaten a fruit).
- The six known members are roster entries on Animal Kingdom Pirates — they are not re-listed here.

Notes
- Etymology : 飛び六胞 / Tobi Roppō = VIZ “Flying Six.”
飛び(tobi, “flying/leaping”) +六(roku/ro, “six”) +胞(hō). Homophone pun on the kabuki 飛び六方 tobi roppō — a flamboyant stylized exit (the 六方/roppō aragoto walk throwing the limbs to the six directions), most famously Benkei’s bounding exit at the close of Kanjinchō; Oda swaps 方→胞 (both hō) to keep the sound. The Beasts crew layers this performing-arts theatre hierarchy over its playing-card naming. Confidence high.
