- Name meaning
- **Kurozumi** (黒炭) = 黒 'black' + 炭 'charcoal / coal' → literally 'black charcoal.' Deliberately antithetical to the rival ruling house Kozuki (光月 'shining moon'): charcoal (black, burnt, smoke) against moon (radiance, light) — the dark usurper house vs the light/rightful one. The Kurozumi name pointedly LACKS the 月 'moon' kanji the Kozuki carry. (NB: the real-world Japanese surname 'Kurozumi' is 黒住 'black dwelling'; Oda's clan is the distinct 黒炭 'black charcoal' — a charcoal/moon antithesis, not a residence.)
Lineage: the clan of Wano’s sitting Shogun Kurozumi Orochi — the antagonist house that supplanted the Kozuki after Oden Castle fell ~20 years ago. Surname first printed on-page Ch. 919.
