- English 'Big Horn' — almost certainly named for the **bighorn sheep** (Ovis canadensis), a snow/mountain ungulate that lives in the rocky high-country of North America. Pattern-matches the Drum-Island naming chamber where village names are food/animal coinages (Cocoa Weed, Gyasta cf. Italian 'gelato'). The bighorn sheep also evokes the village's snow-mountain location at the base of the Drum Rockies; some readers also connect it to Custer's *Battle of the Little Bighorn* (a frontier-massacre register that resonates with Wapol's siege of the village).

Profile
The Snow Village of Big Horn — a settlement of cone-roofed snow houses on the snowfields of Drum Island (Drum Kingdom), below the Drum Rockies. Named on-page in Ch. 133 (p. 5: “The Snow Village — Big Horn”). Its streets are walked by strange animals — the ram-horned hiking bear and big-horn sheep, from which the village likely takes its name. It is patrolled by the Drum Island Civilian Guard under Captain Dalton. The Straw Hats make their Drum-arc landfall here; Big Horn is the staging-point for the mountain-climb to Dr. Kureha’s castle, and Zoro, Usopp, and Karoo remain here while Luffy, Sanji, and Vivi climb.
Etymology
(Big Horn — keys off the local big-horn-ram fauna; the ram-horned hiking bear and big-horn sheep that walk the village streets give the snow village its name.)

- Ch. 133 — first appearance. The Straw Hats’ first stop on Drum Island; Captain Dalton introduces himself here, reads Nami’s fever, and recounts the kingdom’s history. Luffy’s group sets out from Big Horn to climb the Drum Rockies.
- Ch. 135 — convergence-point (VIZ spelling Bighorn). A COCOAWEED / BIGHORN signpost crossroads is shown (p. 3). Both the mountain-climbing Straw Hats and Wapol’s officers Chess and Kuromarimo — who track the crew’s footprints — are converging on Bighorn (p. 15), setting up the arc’s first Wapol-vs-Straw-Hats collision. The Lapin-pursuit-triggered mountainside avalanche bears down on the village (“It’ll bury the village!!!”) but stops short at the last moment (Luffy and Sanji absorbed the worst of it on the slope).
