The seed
The payoff
(Forward-canon: the white rope is Dr. Kureha’s secret access route — her sleigh-flying “on moonlit nights” folklore (Ch. 133) is the literal use of this rope. Resolves the Ch. 133 Witch mythology.)
Why this matters
Two structural seeds:
- The defunct ropeway network — Drum Castle was once openly connected to the towns by a ropeway system; that network was dismantled under Wapol’s reign. Wapol cut his subjects off from the castle/medical-care literally — the infrastructure-decay encodes the political-decay.
- The mysterious white rope from Gyasta — somebody secretly rigged a working route. The rigger is forward-canonically Dr. Kureha (matching her I come and go as I please register from Ch. 133-134, and her sleigh-flight folklore). Resolves the Witch riding a sleigh through the sky mythology as the actual mechanism by which Kureha travels.
Also the Gyasta = giant tree + white rope image-cluster reads as a Norse / Yggdrasil-style cosmic-tree motif — a doctor at the top of a great tree connected to the world below by a thread.
