Bounty hunter. Partner to Johnny. Wears a red bandana, fur-collared open coat, baggy checkered trousers; bare-chested under the coat; usually has a cigarette in his mouth; carries two short swords crossed at his side. One of Zoro’s pre-Straw-Hat bounty-hunting partners (page 16: “We’re brother Zolo’s old bounty-hunting partners!! Pleased to meet you!!”).

Introduced near-death from scurvy on a small skiff trailing the Going Merry (page 13 — “His teeth are falling out… and he’s bleeding from old scars… He was fit as a fiddle until a few days ago…”). Revived by Nami’s lime-juice intervention (page 15 — “IT’S SCURVY”). Recovers enough by chapter close to narrate the Baratie warning (page 19 — “But be careful. It’s near the Grand Line. It’s two or three days’ sailing from here. Some rough customers frequent that place.”).
