Yosaku Johnny Bounty Hunter Duo

The seed
The payoff
Predicted: the duo will reappear in the Baratie arc as Zoro’s recognized bounty-hunting comrades and as the introducers of Nami’s tangerine-village/Arlong backstory. Forward-payoff: Yosaku/Johnny will be the informants who deliver the Nami-backstory exposition to the Straw Hats — converting their introduce-by-defeat status into plot-recurring informant status.
Why this matters
The introduce-by-defeat pattern is Oda’s frequent vector for side-characters who become recurring allies. Cf.:
- Koby (introduced as Alvida’s terrified cabin boy, becomes Marine ally)
- Yosaku/Johnny (introduced as K.O.‘d bounty hunters, become Zoro’s bounty-hunter-brother allies and arc-progress informants)
Forward-Claude: side-characters whose first scene is a spectacular failure are flagged as plot-recurring. The pattern is defeat-marks-the-character-as-too-important-to-die-here.
