Yosaku and Johnny Bounty-Hunting Team
Title-card debut: Ch. 42 page 16 bottom — “YOSAKU and JOHNNY — Bounty-Hunting Team”
Profile
A two-man bounty-hunting team in East Blue. Active targets include (or have included) Hawk-Eye Mihawk (per Ch 42). One former teammate: Zoro (“We’re brother Zolo’s old bounty-hunting partners!! Pleased to meet you!!” — Yosaku, page 16). The team’s reputation has grown over time per Johnny’s chapter-14 narration: “Our reputation has grown. Pirates fear the names of Johnny and Yosaku.”
As of Ch 42, the team is operational with Yosaku and Johnny as the two named members; Zoro is a former member (joined the Straw Hats per Ch 6).

Notable events
Arlong Park (arc-exit) (Ch. 95) — Amicable departure from Straw Hats; resume bounty-hunting
The duo formally departs the Straw Hats’ company at the Coco Village dock (page 11): “We’ll say goodbye here. Hope we meet again someday. We’re going back to being bounty hunters. Thanks for everything, Luffy.” First clean temporary-allies-leave-amicably cameo-exit in the series. The duo continues as off-page entity — not absorbed into the Straw Hats. Forward-pre-load: a bounty-hunter-duo-returns-with-news beat at some future arc could re-deploy them.
Arlong Park (conscience-return) (Ch. 81)
The duo reverses their Ch. 76 tier-exit by returning to Arlong Park to “make amends for misjudging Sister Nami”. Bound/captured by the fish-men officers (Hatchan, Kuroobi, Choo). Installs the conscience-overrides-tier-limit register — the duo cannot combat-scale but came back anyway. Forward-pattern: ally-returns-out-of-conscience-not-tier recurs across the series.
Arc-end status (Ch. 76)
- Exit from Straw Hat alliance (page 9). Citing I-cannot-be-slaughtered-by-Arlong. Mutual-respect farewell with Zoro. The duo recognizes they cannot operate at Arlong-tier and split off. The expository-courier role (Ch. 43-75) ends.
- Ch. 42 — Team debut. Yosaku is dying of scurvy; Johnny boards the Going Merry in rage. Both revealed as Zoro’s old bounty-hunting partners. Yosaku is revived by Nami’s lime-juice intervention. The pair offer to guide the Straw Hats to the Baratie (page 19) — also name Hawk-Eye Mihawk as an old hunt-target and as a Baratie frequenter. Chapter ends with the team escorting the Going Merry north on a smaller skiff.
- Ch. 52 — On the boat through the Mihawk-Zoro duel. Pull Zoro from the water and apply salve to his wounds. Tasked by Luffy alongside Usopp with the Sanji-recruitment subplot at the chapter’s terminal pivot.
