Summary

A flashback montage closes Pedro’s story: at 27 he surrendered fifty years of his life to Big Mom under Tamago’s eye, named his crew the Nox Pirates (“night,” because every night ends in a sunrise), and dedicated his shortened life to laying “the foundation for the dawning of the world” where the men he reveres — Roger and Lord Oden — await. In the present, Pedro self-detonates point-blank among Big Mom’s fleet, engulfing eldest son Perospero and the candy wall, opening the escape the Thousand Sunny needs. The crew refuses to waste his sacrifice: Carrot fights with Electro channeling his teaching, Luffy knocks Katakuri back with Elephant Gun, and Nami readies a Coup de Burst. As the Sunny launches by air, Perospero crawls free (his candy armor shattered but alive). Luffy leaps off the ship into Brulee’s Mirro-World to settle his fight with Katakuri alone — telling the crew to hold on without him — and Katakuri slices the passage back to the ship shut, trapping the two of them together for their duel.

New reveals

  • Pedro’s death. He detonates explosives point-blank inside Big Mom’s fleet (p. 5), engulfing Perospero and the candy structure to blow open the Straw Hats’ escape route. His crew mourns him and resolves not to waste it.
  • Pedro’s full backstory / dawn manifesto. Flashback: he was 27 when Big Mom took fifty years of his life (pp. 3–4); he named his crew Nox (“night”) because there is no night that does not end in a sunrise; he reveres Roger and Lord Oden (“Roger, Lord Oden! I will join you!!!”), and wants to “lay the foundation for the dawning of the world… the moment before the dawn” (pp. 4–5).
  • Perospero survives. His candy armor is shattered by the blast but he lives — “It shattered all my candy armor” (p. 14).
  • Luffy isolates the Katakuri fight. He leaps off the launching Sunny into the Mirro-World — “Hold things down without me!! I will be back!!!” (p. 15); Katakuri follows and cuts off the mirror passage back to the ship (p. 19), sealing the two of them in for a one-on-one.
  • The Sunny escapes by air. Nami’s Coup de Burst launches the ship clear of Big Mom’s fleet; Amande confirms “By air… Enemy ship has escaped” (p. 17).
