Summary
In the Alubarna palace, Vivi is dressed for her royal coming-of-age ceremony by the matronly chamberlain Terracotta (Igaram’s wife), declaring through the door “I’M GOING TO BECOME A PIRATE QUEEN!!” as the still-paranoid Igaram bursts in, gun drawn, mistaking her dressing-room for an attack (pp. 2-3). The square is packed; the ceremony will broadcast Vivi’s speech by Transponder Snail across the kingdom, but Vivi confesses “I don’t know what to say” — she is wordlessly weighing whether to be a princess or a pirate (pp. 4-6). Word arrives of “fighting at the port” (p. 6). Out on the water, the Going Merry is under bombardment from a Marine fleet, the crew helpless and outnumbered eight-to-one (pp. 7-9). The fleet is the “Black Cage Squad”, whose “Black Spear Formation” no vessel can break — and among its ranks are a hypnotist (Django) and a “nasty, violent cook” whom Sanji recognizes as Fullbody (p. 8). The squad’s commander reveals herself: “Black Cage” Hina, the Marine Captain in charge of the region (pp. 9-11). When Usopp opens a gap in the formation, the crew refuses to flee through it — “We’re gonna… pick up a friend!!” (Luffy) — and sail straight toward the danger to rescue Bon Clay, who is being chased by the same fleet (pp. 11-15). Bon Clay first appears on his swan-ship wearing Luffy’s face as a feint (“This straw hat Luffy you’re looking for… is it me?! Just kidding.”, p. 16), then drops the disguise and announces himself “a friend of the Straw Hat gang!!” (p. 17). To buy the crew time, he splits the fleet — sending the Going Merry south as a decoy while the Straw Hats slip away on the duck-ship — and dances his “Last Waltz” on the deck (“Scatter, my friends… to the true sky! … you can’t stray from the path of mankind.”), surrendering himself to Hina’s capture so his friends can escape (pp. 17-20). The Straw Hats weep their goodbyes (“BON-CHAN!! …We’ll never, ever… forget you guys!!”, p. 19) as Bon Clay’s swan-ship is sunk and Luffy, in close-up, eats his fill in tears (p. 20).
New reveals
- “Black Cage” Hina debuts — a Marine Captain (“the Navy Captain who’s in charge of this region”, p. 9) commanding the Black Cage Squad. Tall, long-haired, in a black dress with a smoking gauntlet, supremely confident: “No vessel exists that my Black Spear Formation can’t destroy.” / “If you get in my way, Hina will be very upset.” (third-person self-reference) (pp. 10-11).
- The “Black Spear Formation” — Hina’s signature naval blockade tactic. A ring of warships boxing a target in with iron-spear cannon-fire; the chapter calls it “the specialty of the Black Cage Squad” (p. 8). The Going Merry is pinned eight-to-one and battered (CHONK CHONK CHONK, p. 7).
- Django and Fullbody are now Marines under Hina. The hypnotist on deck (“Today I’ll prove to you that I’m not a weirdo!! Look closely at this ring!”, p. 8) is Django (last main-story Ch. 0039), and the “nasty, violent cook” Sanji recognizes is Fullbody (last main-story Ch. 0044). Both wear Marine caps — they have been conscripted into Hina’s “Black Cage Squad,” paying off their Ch. 0168 cover-arc demotion-in-the-Marine-court.
- Bon Clay completes his enemy-to-friend turn — having been beaten by Sanji at Alubarna (Ch. 189), he now sacrifices himself for the crew. He calls himself “a friend of the Straw Hat gang” (p. 17) and dances the “Last Waltz” as a decoy so the Straw Hats can escape, surrendering to Hina’s capture.
- Vivi is preparing for her royal coming-of-age ceremony, broadcast kingdom-wide by Transponder Snail. Her “I don’t know what to say” (p. 5) is the chapter’s quiet statement of her unresolved crew-vs-crown choice.
- Terracotta appears on-page — the palace head chamberlain (Igaram’s wife) who dresses Vivi for the ceremony (pp. 3-5).

Open questions raised
- What is Hina’s Devil Fruit / the mechanic behind “Black Cage” and her cage-binding?
- Does Vivi leave with the crew or stay as princess? (The ceremony speech is the decision-point — resolved next chapter.)
- What becomes of Bon Clay in Hina’s custody?
- Does Hina’s pursuit continue past this blockade?
