Why this matters
Oda installs a sacrifice-via-disguise template at the small scale (Alabasta arc-exit) that he re-runs at the large scale (Impel Down). The components are identical: (1) Mane-Mane impersonation as a misdirection, (2) the friend draws the pursuing force onto himself, (3) self-surrender so Luffy’s group escapes. The “Last Waltz” deck-dance is the small-scale prototype; the Impel Down Magellan-impersonation gate-hold is the escalated payoff.
