Summary

The Alabasta arc’s emotional farewell. A childhood flashback opens with young Vivi learning from Igaram that the rebellion is the work of an underground organization (Baroque Works) whose ringleader is unknown; Igaram poses the question “Do you have the resolve… to stay alive?” — and Vivi answers (in present-tense voice-over) “I’ve been on an adventure.” In present time, Princess Vivi delivers a public recovery-ceremony speech broadcast from Alubarna across the whole kingdom — a coded account of her undercover journey framed as “the untold story of her struggle,” heard over loudspeakers by Koza, the recovering King Cobra, and the gathered citizens (p. 5-10). At East Port Tamarisk the Straw Hats hear the broadcast on the radio and realize Vivi is at the ceremony, not coming to the ship; with the Navy closing in, Luffy nearly refuses to leave without her (pp. 10-13). Vivi races to the cliff overlooking the harbor on Karoo, microphone in hand, and tells the departing crew “Thank you for everything!! …but when it comes down to it… I’d like to continue my adventures… So I can’t go!!” — choosing to stay and defend her kingdom. Because openly sailing with pirates would brand her a criminal in the watching Navy’s eyes, the crew cannot wave or shout back; instead they silently raise their X-marked left arms — the fellowship-sign Vivi proposed at Nanohana (Ch. 0157) — and sail away under the Jolly Roger. “No matter what happens from here on, our left arms will bear… the sign of our fellowship. LET’S SAIL!!”
