Chapter 670: Blizzard with a Chance of Slime

Summary

Luffy’s group (Luffy, Robin, Franky) and the brutal Naval G-5 unit converge on Vegapunk’s old laboratory on Punk Hazard’s frozen side. Luffy beats up a weak prison-clad figure he assumes is Smoker — only to learn the “glasses lady” attacking him with a sea-prism jitte is the real Smoker, his mind swapped by Law into Tashigi’s body, while the feeble one he thrashed is Tashigi in Smoker’s body. Luffy laughs (“You’re Smokey?!”), shrugs off the fight in Gear Two, and Franky lasers a hole in the lab door so they can press inside. Then a black slime “falls from the sky,” engulfing a ship, spraying poison gas, and burning anyone it touches. The G-5 Marines decide fire is its weakness and set it ablaze — triggering a massive explosion that wipes out the navy’s own escape ship and many of Smoker’s men (“My men!!!”). The slime only reforms, keeps raining down, and combines into ever-larger masses. Its master appears at last: Caesar Clown, who coos at the creature (“Very good boy. Sorry for keeping you locked up for three whole years!”) and explains he is launching pieces of it across the lake because “he doesn’t like water.” Confronted and named to his face, Caesar confirms he is the Master — then grabs Luffy, gloating that once every piece of the slime has traveled over from the fire side, his enemies “will finally know the terror of what transpired here four years” ago. New reveals

• The Smoker/Tashigi body-swap is shown plainly (pp. 3–5): the “glasses lady” who fights Luffy with the sea-prism jitte is Smoker (“I’m Smoker!!!”); the weak figure Luffy beat up is Tashigi in Smoker’s body. Robin: “It must be Law’s work, Luffy.” Confirms Law applied his Ope Ope no Mi soul-swap to the two Marine officers.
• A poison-and-explosive slime “falls from the sky” (pp. 8–13): it sprays poison gas, burns/poisons skin on touch, and — as the G-5 Marines discover the hard way — detonates on contact with fire. Their attempt to immolate it “blows it sky-high,” destroying the ship the navy meant to escape on.
• The slime is alive and self-combining (pp. 9–15): separate blobs merge and grow larger (“It’s combining… and growing larger!!”), reform after being blasted, and keep raining from above (“It keeps comin’ down!!”).
• Caesar’s slime is a kept “pet” of three years (p. 15): “Very good boy. Sorry for keeping you locked up for three whole years!” — establishing the creature as a deliberate, long-incubated experiment, not a wild phenomenon.
• Why it falls from the sky (p. 16): “He doesn’t like water, you see.” To cross the lake without touching water, Caesar launches pieces of the creature through the air, one after another, to reassemble on the laboratory side.
• Caesar Clown reveals himself in person (pp. 15–17): named to his face (“You’re Caesar Clown… aren’t you?!” — “Indeed I am!”), he grabs Luffy and threatens that once all the slime pieces arrive from the fire side, “you will finally know the terror of what transpired here four years” ago — explicitly tying the creature to the sealed Punk Hazard disaster.
