- PERONA'S CORE SECRET REVEALED: the Perona that Usopp has been fighting is an out-of-body ASTRAL PROJECTION (a ghost form) — it can pass through anything (intangible) AND can deal no physical harm; her hands passed through Usopp's chest without wounding him, so her 'I'll crush your heart' threat was a bluff (pp. 6-9).

Summary
Usopp, immune to Perona’s Negative Hollow ghosts, presses his attack with the dial-powered Kabuto slingshot, but every shot passes harmlessly through her — Perona reveals she is fighting as an intangible astral projection (“ghost”) that can pass through anything and cannot itself be touched. She bluffs that she can reach into his chest and crush his heart, but her hands pass through him without wounding; her only real weapon is the exploding Mini Hollow ghosts (“Ghost Rap”). The fight becomes a stalemate — Usopp can’t hit her, she can’t hurt him — until her giant bear-zombie Kumacy nearly finishes him and Usopp retreats into his Sniper King persona to steady himself. Reasoning that she fled in terror earlier despite being untouchable, Usopp deduces her real body must be hidden and vulnerable; he fires past the projection, blasts open a nearby room, and finds Perona’s true body slumped in a chair.
