Summary
At the Tower of Law on Enies Lobby’s judicial island, Director Spandam lounges with a golden Transponder Snail — possession of which carries the authority to summon a Buster Call, the World Government weapon that can erase an entire island with one button. He boasts of how he “crushed” Robin’s comrades (the giants Oimo and Kashii) and defeated five of his guards, and gloats to a captive Nico Robin about the fate of “Straw Hat Luffy.” His self-congratulation is interrupted by an urgent report from the main island: roughly 60 pirates have invaded, reaching the final point — the square before the courthouse. Meanwhile on the main island, the Franky Family, Galley-La workers, the Square Sisters, and the giant duo Oimo and Kashii (who have switched sides and are advancing up the island’s center) overrun the guard force, with Sanji rallying all soldiers toward the courthouse. The report tallies the catastrophe: over 2,000 World Government forces engaged, more than 1,000 defeated, the giant gate guards turned, and “Straw Hat Luffy” vanished into a search. The chapter closes naming this assault a calamity unlike anything in the entire history of Enies Lobby, with Blueno watching and Robin laughing.
New reveals
- Director Spandam introduced (first appearance + first mention) — the World Government official directing the operation against Robin, headquartered at the Tower of Law on the judicial island.
- Buster Call named for the first time: a World Government weapon invoked by a golden Transponder Snail, granting the holder authority to make “an island disappear” with one button (Spandam, p. 2–3).
- Buster Call authority normally requires permission from “an Admiral or higher at Navy Headquarters”; Spandam claims he obtained his golden snail “from Aokiji for the Buster Call” (p. 2).
- Funkfreed — Spandam’s war elephant — named on-page (p. 2).
- Oimo and Kashii (the giant island-gate guards) have joined the pirates and are coming up the center of the main island (p. 14).
- Casualty tally: of over 2,000 government forces, more than 1,000 defeated; fewer than five of Spandam’s personal guards beaten (pp. 14).
