The trailed-off line (…may we…) is Oda’s promise-of-return covenant grammar: a character makes a half-articulated wish about reunion, and the unfinished register pre-installs the reunion-beat as a deferred payoff. The same grammar recurs across the series (e.g., Ace’s I just wanted to be loved…, Sanji’s thank you for the meal… etc.).
Forward-payoff: Igaram is alive off-page, and Vivi does return home to Alabasta and reunite with him — the trailed-off may we… completes when they meet again.
