Zoro Spares Tashigi Kuina Face Doctrine

Why this matters

The mismatch between Tashigi-doesn’t-know-she-wears-Kuina’s-face and Zoro-can’t-fight-Kuina’s-face governs every later Zoro-Tashigi encounter. The chapter installs the doctrine without resolving the mismatch.

The structural device is asymmetric:

• Zoro’s side: spares Tashigi because she wears Kuina’s face. Never voices this. Never confronts Tashigi about the resemblance.
• Tashigi’s side: reads the sparing as gender-condescension. Never learns Zoro’s actual reason.

The mismatch is the engine of every later Zoro-Tashigi encounter:

• Alabasta (Ch. 156+, 215+) — Zoro continues to spare; Tashigi continues to read it as condescension.
• Punk Hazard (Ch. 654+) — the body-swapped sequence lets Zoro accidentally fight Tashigi at full force (in Smoker’s body) — the dissociation between body and face is the arc’s compositional pivot. The arc tests the Ch. 100 doctrine by structurally separating the face from the combat-peer.
• Wano — Tashigi-side absent; Kuina-Shimotsuki-lineage reveal (Ch. 953+) provides the missing canonical explanation for the visual-twin.
