The payoff

Why this matters

Wado Ichimonji is no longer just a Zoro-prop; it is canonically a named-blade with cultural recognition outside Shimotsuki Village — a status that triggers the entire Wano-arc katana-stewardship economy:

  • Shusui — the Ryuma blade Zoro acquires at Thriller Bark (Ch. 467+) and surrenders to Wano (Ch. 953+) operates within the same meito-stewardship grammar.
  • Enma — Hiyori’s gift of Oden’s blade to Zoro operates within the same value-grammar.
  • Kitetsu sword line — the cursed-blade sub-system.

The chapter also structurally binds the Kuina-look-alike Marine to the naming-of-Kuina’s-blade — the same Marine who wears Kuina’s face names Kuina’s blade on-page (Ch. 97 book; Ch. 100 field-combat). The Kuina-Wado-Tashigi triangulation is operational.

Forward-pattern (the name-before-detail technique applied to a prop):

The technique scales from character-name-before-face to prop-name-before-detail — the prop has a name-before-detail payoff just like a character does. Cross-link Roronoa Zolo Name Before Face for the originating-pattern.
