Summary
The Mirro-World duel continues: after another exchange, Katakuri buries Luffy under a colossal multilayered Mirror Mochi to suffocate him, apologizing for ending the fight “this way” — he is forty minutes late for his daily merienda (afternoon snack) and his pastry chefs fret over the cold tea. Katakuri retreats to his private shrine because no one has ever seen him eat: he treats teatime as solemn nutritional intake, and the chefs venerate him as a cold, proud, perfect man who never lies down. Luffy eats his way free of the mochi, locates Katakuri’s hidden presence with Observation Haki, and smashes into the shrine with an Elephant Gun — catching Katakuri sprawled on the floor in donut-drunk bliss, his scarf down to reveal an enormous ripped, jagged-toothed mouth. Enraged that his true face was seen, Katakuri impales his terrified chefs with Edged Mochi (“No one who has seen my true form can live!!!”) and turns on Luffy. In the clash he reveals that there are levels to the color of Armament Haki — but his composure has cracked, and for the first time Luffy’s kick lands clean (“He didn’t dodge?!!”). Luffy declares he’s beginning to understand Katakuri’s powers, goes Gear Four, weathers Rain-Fall Mochi, and connects with a Kong Gun.
New reveals
- Katakuri’s hidden mouth. Beneath his ever-present scarf, Katakuri has a huge ripped/jagged shark-toothed mouth stretching ear to ear (p. 10, 12). He eats his daily merienda completely alone for this reason — “nobody’s ever seen Master Katakuri in the act of eating” (p. 6).
- The “perfect man” is a construction. The chefs’ worshipful image — cold, proud, never lies down, looks down on the earth itself (p. 11) — is intercut against Katakuri sprawled on the floor blissfully gorging on donuts (pp. 10–11). His whole reputation is curated.
- Katakuri turns on his own men. Once seen, he tries to kill the loyal chefs with Edged Mochi to keep the secret — “Forgive me for not seeing your death through!! I was at the end of my patience!!!” (p. 13); “No one who has seen my true form can live!!!” (p. 14).
- Levels of Armament Haki. “There are even levels to the color of Armament!!” (p. 14) — the first explicit statement that Busoshoku Haki has tiers/grades, with Katakuri wielding an advanced one.
- Katakuri’s future-sight cracks. Luffy’s kick lands because Katakuri “didn’t dodge” (p. 15) — his predictive Observation falters when his pride is wounded. Luffy: “I think I’m starting to understand… your powers!” (p. 16).
- Luffy ate his way out of the multilayered Mirror Mochi (p. 7) and used Observation Haki to sense Katakuri inside the shrine (p. 8).
- SBS Vol 88 (p. 18): Katakuri, Daifuku, and Oven share a November 25 birthday — confirmed as triplets (“cool triplet bros”); plus Supernova country/career gags.

Open questions raised
- Why does Katakuri hide his mouth, and where did the ripped-mouth shame originate? (Backstory hook.)
- How high do the “levels of Armament Haki” go, and can Luffy learn the advanced tier?
- Can Luffy fully acquire future-sight Observation by reading Katakuri before the fight ends?
- Will Katakuri’s attempt to kill his own loyal chefs have consequences within the Big Mom Pirates?
