Firsts
  • Katakuri's lifelong secret: behind his scarf he has a huge ripped, jagged shark-toothed mouth from ear to ear — he eats his daily 'merienda' alone because of it, and no one in the Big Mom Pirates has ever seen him eat.
  • Katakuri's flawless 'perfect man' image is a deliberate construction; caught sprawled and blissfully devouring donuts, he attempts to MURDER his own loyal pastry chefs for witnessing his true face — 'No one who has seen my true form can live!!!'
  • 'There are even levels to the color of Armament!!' — Busoshoku (Armament) Haki exists in tiers; Katakuri wields an advanced tier.
  • Luffy lands a clean kick because Katakuri 'didn't dodge' — Katakuri's future-sight Observation falters once his composure breaks, and Luffy says he is 'starting to understand' Katakuri's powers.
  • Luffy ate his way out of the burying Mirror Mochi. New Katakuri techniques: Mirror Mochi, Edged Mochi, Rain-Fall Mochi.
  • SBS Vol 88: Charlotte Katakuri, Daifuku, and Oven are triplets, born November 25.

Summary

The Mirro-World duel continues: after another exchange, Katakuri buries Luffy under a colossal multilayered Mirror Mochi to suffocate him, apologizing for ending the fight “this way” — he is forty minutes late for his daily merienda (afternoon snack) and his pastry chefs fret over the cold tea. Katakuri retreats to his private shrine because no one has ever seen him eat: he treats teatime as solemn nutritional intake, and the chefs venerate him as a cold, proud, perfect man who never lies down. Luffy eats his way free of the mochi, locates Katakuri’s hidden presence with Observation Haki, and smashes into the shrine with an Elephant Gun — catching Katakuri sprawled on the floor in donut-drunk bliss, his scarf down to reveal an enormous ripped, jagged-toothed mouth. Enraged that his true face was seen, Katakuri impales his terrified chefs with Edged Mochi (“No one who has seen my true form can live!!!”) and turns on Luffy. In the clash he reveals that there are levels to the color of Armament Haki — but his composure has cracked, and for the first time Luffy’s kick lands clean (“He didn’t dodge?!!”). Luffy declares he’s beginning to understand Katakuri’s powers, goes Gear Four, weathers Rain-Fall Mochi, and connects with a Kong Gun.
