Chapter 276: Shandian Rhythm

Summary

Atop Upper Yard, Enel methodically finishes off the warriors who reached him. Wyper — whose Reject Dial nearly killed Enel twice — is kept alive only because the sea-prism stone in his Reject Dial’s casing blunted Enel’s lightning; Enel taunts that Wyper “picked the wrong opponent” and warns him not to use his “name” (god-authority) in vain (pages 2-9). Wyper recounts the Shandian creed: 800 years ago the proud Shandian warriors fought to protect this city, their homeland was overtaken “out of the blue one day,” and for 400 years their descendants have yearned to reclaim it and avenge the great warrior Kalgara (pages 4-5). Enel mocks his persistence (“you’re just an eyesore now”) and presses Wyper on Kalgara’s one more, most important reason for wanting his homeland back — then cuts him down mid-thought with El Thor (pages 12-14). With Zoro, Sanji, Robin, Wyper and all the fighters down, Nami stands alone. Enel offers to take her with him “to the world of dreams”; Nami plays along and accepts, but Enel reads her unshaken heart and dismisses her (“hearts that can’t be swayed by fear can be inconvenient… fine, come then”) (pages 16-17). The chapter cuts to Angel Island’s coast, where White Berets under Captain McKinley broadcast across Lovely Street and the Wharf that Pagaya, his daughter Conis, and former Kami Gan Fall are now fugitives of the Kami Enel — closing on a startled “HESO!!” (pages 18-19).
