- Katorea (カトレア) = **Cattleya** — the iconic orchid genus (Cattleya orchids, named for English horticulturalist William Cattley, 1820s). Cattleya orchids are tropical/desert-adjacent prized blooms. The flower-naming is consistent with Alabasta's botanical-name register for water-bearing oases (Nanohana = *rapeseed flower*; Yuba = hot-spring/oasis register). 'A flower-name for the rebel-army base' encodes the kingdom-rebellion as a fragile/precious bloom struggling against the desertification — Crocodile's drought destroys flower-named places. The Cattleya orchid is also the national flower of Brazil/Colombia, evoking exotic-tropical-luxury contrast against the desert.

Etymology
Katorea (カトレア) — Japanese rendering of Cattleya (the orchid genus). The name encodes the kingdom’s flora-named cities register (cf. Nanohana = rapeseed flower). Pre-loads Oda’s plant-flora geographic encoding for Alabasta.
