In Ch. 378 the Enies Lobby Island-Gate gatekeepers Oimo and Kashii declare themselves “born of a warrior tribe” with blood different from ordinary giants, and the attackers rally around the idea that a “big brother” is held beyond the gate.
The seed: a pair of proud giant warriors guarding a World Government island makes little sense unless they have been deceived or coerced — the implication being that the WG holds something (a captured comrade/captain) over them. Establishes the giant-warrior-culture-vs-World-Government conflict and the false-loyalty motif that the assault force can exploit.
