Summary

Aboard their ship, the Bellamy Pirates drink and crow about having terrorized “those weakling rookies” (Luffy and Zoro) the day before, dismissing their ~3-million bounties as proof they’re nobodies. A drunk crewman reading the newspaper goes pale: the Straw Hat captain’s new bounty is a hundred million berries (p. 3), with Zoro at sixty million — far above Bellamy’s own fifty-five million (pp. 6-9). A messenger bursts in warning Bellamy he’s in danger, but Bellamy, gambling on bravado, denounces the poster as a fake meant to scare fools (pp. 8-9). A cloaked figure then slams through the tavern doors (pp. 10-11): it is Luffy, who throws off the cloak (pp. 11-12) and demands Bellamy return the gold he stole from “the diamond-head man” (Mont Blanc Cricket), declaring “those guys are my friends” (pp. 11-12). Bellamy mocks him — “the age of dreaming is over” — and launches off the tower with his spring-leg powers (“Spring Snipe,” “Spring Hopper,” pp. 14-16). Luffy, recalling that “this time was different,” waits and lands a single, colossal punch that flattens Bellamy in one blow (pp. 17-19), to the silent shock of the entire town.
