Summary

In the Mock Town bar, Bellamy and his first mate Sarquiss have been beating Luffy and Zoro bloody to the cheers of the laughing pirate crowd, and the two Straw Hats refuse to retaliate — Luffy has told Zoro not to fight, honoring his vow not to fight in this town. Bellamy mocks them as “weak-kneed dreamers” whose “heads are full of dreams,” and a watching Blackbeard (Marshall D. Teach) agrees aloud that pacifism is cowardice and that the pair “make me sick.” Bellamy tries to buy Nami, who refuses and insults his crew as “third-rate bullies.” As Bellamy declares the “age of pirate dreams is over,” Blackbeard — drinking alone and laughing — delivers his counter-creed: “People’s dreams…don’t ever end!!” Bloodied, Luffy, Zoro, and Nami simply walk out, and Luffy quietly congratulates Zoro on enduring the beating. Outside, Luffy realizes the laughing man who told him the sky island exists (“there’s more than one”) is the same Blackbeard who wishes them well, then races back to find him gone. The chapter closes on the cover-side B-plot crew (Usopp fixing the Going Merry, Sanji, Chopper) hearing a familiar song.
