Wano's Daimyo Clans

Structural lore — the five daimyo clans that served the Kozuki shogunate of Wano. Named on-page in Orochi’s origin flashback Ch. 965.

What we know

• Ch. 965: The Kozuki shogunate is served by five daimyo clans, named on-page (p. 9): Fugetsu, Amatsuki, Uzuki, Kurozumi, Shimotsuki. Beneath the Kozuki shogun, each clan governs a region of Wano.
• Ch. 965: When the previous Kozuki shogun was childless, the daimyo clans each hoped to inherit the seat; the Kurozumi clan attempted to seize it by poisoning the rival clans — a plot foiled by Sukiyaki’s birth (pp. 9–11). The fall of the disgraced Kurozumi is the root of Orochi’s grudge.
• Of the five, Kurozumi (disgraced) and Shimotsuki (Yasuie of Hakumai) are already established in the vault; Fugetsu / Amatsuki / Uzuki are newly named here .

Naming / etymology (the “moon” tell)

The Wano daimyo houses share a lunar naming theme — the kanji 月 (tsuki/getsu, “moon/month”) binds the loyal clans to the ruling Kozuki line, and the one house that lacks it is the villain house:

The contrast is the etymological “tell”: every loyal Wano house carries the moon; the disgraced, vengeful Kurozumi is built on 炭 (“charcoal,” black/burnt) instead — darkness against the Kozuki’s light.
