Luffy wins by a growth/observation breakthrough — he re-grasps the Rusukaina lesson that the mightiest Observation-Haki users “can see a little bit into the future” (Ch. 894 p.4, Rayleigh flashback), develops his own future-sight on-page at Ch. 893 (“I think I saw it!”, p.6) where Katakuri concedes equality (“I no longer assume that you are inferior to me”, p.17), and pairs it with the new speed form Gear 4 Snake-Man whose mid-flight redirection slips past Katakuri’s precognition (Ch. 895). He downs Katakuri at Ch. 896 (the chapter states outright “After Luffy downs Katakuri” — the KO is in-window, ≤0897), then escapes the Mirro-World past him (Ch. 897).
