Name meaning
クライガナ島 Kuraigana-tō (VIZ 'Gloom Island') ≈ 暗いがな kurai gana, 'gloomy, isn't it?' The fallen kingdom シッケアール王国 Shikkeāru Ōkoku (VIZ 'Muggy Kingdom') ≈ 湿気ある shikke aru, 'it's damp/muggy.' Both VIZ names translate the puns directly. The island's curly hills are modeled on Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas (an Oda favorite); the dark/damp gloom dovetails with Perona's gloom-ghost (Negative Hollow) aesthetic landing here.

Profile

A bleak Grand Line island, the Ruins of the Muggy Kingdom, dominated by a gloomy old castle. Where Kuma’s scatter dropped both Perona and Zoro — Perona laments it isn’t the haunted castle of grudges she’d want, and finds a near-dead Zoro to disarm. See Kuma’s Scatter Sends Each Straw Hat To A Place That Forges Them.

Etymology

Confidence: high · クライガナ島 Kuraigana-tō (VIZ “Gloom Island”) ≈ 暗いがな kurai gana, “gloomy, isn’t it?” The fallen シッケアール王国 Shikkeāru Ōkoku (VIZ “Muggy Kingdom”) ≈ 湿気ある shikke aru, “it’s damp/muggy.” Both VIZ names translate the puns straight. The island’s curly hills are modeled on Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas (an Oda favorite, per Blue Deep). The dark/damp gloom dovetails with Perona’s gloom-ghost (Negative Hollow) aesthetic landing here. Source: One Piece Wiki — Kuraigana Island.
