The payoff
The unnamed human ex-pirate husband is Scopper Gaban Roger Pirates (“the counterpart to Rayleigh ”), living on Elbaf as the schoolmaster “Mr. Ya .” His half-giant child is Collun Ripley (“This is our son, Mr. Ya,” p.15). The deliberately-negative-space human “who can hold his own against Elbaf warriors” is a Roger-crew legend hidden among the giants. (In-window payoff: 1149 ≤ window.hi 1157.)
Reconcile: the @1135 hedge suggested “Mato” as the husband — superseded; the husband is Gaban.

Oda’s deliberate negative-space: a formidable, deliberately-unnamed human ex-pirate “who can hold his own against Elbaf warriors,” living hidden among the giants with a half-giant child — exactly the construction he uses to back-load a later reveal.
