- Magellan's Doku Doku no Mi (Venom-Venom Fruit) arsenal expands on-page: 'Hydra' (a multi-headed poison serpent whose paralyzing neurotoxin causes 'excruciating pain... followed by death'), 'Chloro-Ball' (a hurled poison sphere that detonates), 'Venom Road' (he sinks into and travels through his own poison to reappear elsewhere), a poison tear-sneeze gas, and poison that melts solid rock.
- Magellan's poison kills indiscriminately: his own Impel Down guards who stray into his 'line of fire' are paralyzed/killed by the Hydra; he coldly says 'I warned you fools to stay out of my line of fire.'
- Level 4 (the blazing/burning hell with the blood-pond) is fully sealed — every exit shut — and the stairway up to Level 5 is guarded by the Head Jailer and the three Jailer Beasts.
- Luffy is fighting on an empty stomach ('I'm hungry!!') yet evades Magellan's poison through the heat, blocking the Hydra's heads with hanging iron weights.
- Buggy and Mr. 3 (Galdino) plot to exploit the Magellan-vs-Luffy duel as cover to climb back up toward Level 3 and escape; Mr. 3 briefly considers attacking Magellan with his 'Muggy Ball' before deciding to flee.
- Luffy, cornered and poisoned-out, declares he won't die without rescuing Ace and resolves to 'sacrifice my arms right now,' pumping into Gear Second and landing a Gum-Gum Jet Bazooka on Magellan.

Summary
On Level 4 of Impel Down — the blazing hell of heat and the blood-pond — Warden Magellan corners Luffy, declaring he will not allow the intruder to reach Portgas D. Ace and “sully” the great prison’s reputation. Bon Clay frantically begs Luffy to flee, warning that Magellan’s body is saturated with the poisons of the Venom-Venom Fruit and that he cannot even be touched. Magellan attacks with his Hydra, a multi-headed poison serpent whose neurotoxin paralyzes and kills — striking even his own guards — then escalates with a Chloro-Ball, a poisonous tear-sneeze gas, and Venom Road, sliding through his own poison to ambush Luffy and melting the rock around him. Hungry and battered, Luffy dodges through the inferno, blocking the Hydra’s heads with hanging iron weights. Watching from the side, Buggy and Mr. 3 scheme to use the duel as cover to climb back toward Level 3 and escape. With Magellan demanding his surrender, Luffy refuses — he cannot die without rescuing Ace — and, resolving to “sacrifice my arms,” he pumps into Gear Second and slams a Gum-Gum Jet Bazooka into the warden.
New reveals
- Doku Doku no Mi arsenal (on-page): Hydra (multi-headed poison serpent; “paralyzing neurotoxin… excruciating pain… followed by death” — p. 7), Chloro-Ball (thrown poison sphere that detonates — pp. 10-11), a poison tear-sneeze gas (pp. 12-13), and Venom Road (sinking into and traveling through his own poison to reappear elsewhere — p. 13). Magellan’s poison also melts solid rock (p. 14).
- Magellan poisons his own men who cross his “line of fire” and shows no remorse (pp. 7-8): “I warned you fools to stay out of my line of fire.”
- Level 4 is fully sealed against the lone intruder — “All the exits from this floor have been sealed” — and the stairway to Level 5 is guarded by the Head Jailer and the three Jailer Beasts (p. 5).
- Magellan’s threat tier articulated: “the master of this hell,” “a man who can control the world’s most dangerous prisoners” (p. 16).
- Buggy + Mr. 3 escape scheme: they treat the duel as their best chance to flee upward to Level 3; Mr. 3 weighs his “Muggy Ball” against Magellan’s guards before opting to run (pp. 16-17).
- Luffy’s resolve + Gear Second: vowing he “won’t let you execute Ace,” Luffy chooses to “sacrifice my arms,” activates Gear Second (steam: “What’s that smoke around you?”), and lands Gum-Gum Jet Bazooka on Magellan (pp. 18-19).

Open questions raised
- Did Luffy’s Gum-Gum Jet Bazooka actually hurt the poison-saturated Magellan, or will the warden’s body shrug it off?
- Who are the Head Jailer and the three Jailer Beasts guarding the stairway to Level 5?
- Will Buggy and Mr. 3 actually escape upward while Luffy is pinned, or be drawn back in?
