- **Chapter title — *I Knew*** (p. 1). The title is a load-bearing dialogue-quote that refers to **Brogy's revelation in pp. 16-17** that he *knew* something was wrong with Dorry from the moment they began trading blows — *'I knew!! From the moment we began trading blows.'* / *'I knew Dorry was hiding something!!!'* The title-as-Brogy-line installs the **honor-over-mercy giant-warrior doctrine** as the chapter's load-bearing thematic axis: Brogy continued the duel *despite knowing* Dorry was wounded because to refuse the battle would have *dishonored* his friend. First-on-page articulation of the **Elbaf-warrior code that *mercy can be the greater dishonor*** — explicitly weighted against the modern-pragmatic *stop the fight to save the wounded* register Luffy/Strawhat-side intuition would default to.
- **Cover splash — Mr. 3 in personal hammock-camp doing a handstand** (p. 1). Splash shows Mr. 3 in an elaborate jungle hammock setup with a top hat hanging on a tree, a glass of liquor on a stand, his sword propped against a palm tree, banana plant and tropical foliage, and Mr. 3 himself executing a *handstand* on the hammock — feet vertical in the air, body inverted. **First Mr. 3 cover-splash in the series** — the visual reads as Mr. 3's *power-as-domesticity* register from Ch. 0118 (wax-house architecture) extended to a *personal-leisure-camp* frame. The handstand pose is unusual for an Officer Agent — installs the *idle-theatricality / arts-aesthetic* register that the chapter-body itself canonizes via Mr. 3's *plastic arts / artist of human figures* self-coding.
- ***Candle Lock!!!* — first on-page named Doru Doru no Mi attack** (p. 11). Mr. 3 (KA-CHAK SFX): *'CANDLE LOCK!!!'* — wax restraints lock onto Brogy. **First on-page named technique of the Doru Doru no Mi.** Combat-grammar: discrete wax-restraint attack-name distinct from the Ch. 120 *amorphous wax-engulfment* register; *Candle Lock* installs a **named lock-down combat-mode** with the wax taking explicit candle-shaped restraint forms. The naming-grammar also fits Mr. 3's broader *candle-as-aesthetic-unit* design-language (candle-trimmed hair, candle-jacket-over-Brogy, candle-spinning-candelabra).
- ***Candle Champion / extra special Candelabra* — Mr. 3 body-transformation** (pp. 11-12). Mr. 3 (silhouette spin GLURP!! then GA-GUUUP!!): *'It's time for my... ...candelabra!!!! ...extra special...'* — Mr. 3's hair-candles expand and multiply into a **massive multi-tier candelabra** that **replaces or supplements his body**, with multiple lit candles burning atop a tiered ornate wax sculpture. **First on-page Mr. 3 body-transformation via his Doru Doru no Mi.** The transformation re-keys his Ch. 0118 *architectural-Paramecia* register as a **body-as-architecture Paramecia** — Mr. 3 doesn't just *make* wax architecture, he can *become* it. Cross-reference forward-canon: this is the *Candle Champion* mode (named in later chapters). The transformation installs the *self-as-living-statue / Paramecia-shape-shift* sub-axis of the Doru Doru no Mi.
- Mr 3 Imprison-Then-Execute Doctrine
- ***My skill in the plastic arts*** **— Mr. 3's self-coding as a sculptor-villain** (p. 15). Mr. 3 self-identifies as a **plastic-arts practitioner** — wax-sculpting as fine-art. The *plastic arts* (*zōkei*, sculptural/three-dimensional art) self-coding re-keys the Ch. 0117 *brain-tier-officer / superior criminal's greatest weapon is his brain* self-coding from *intellectual-superior* register to *artist-superior* register. Mr. 3 is now self-identifying not as the smart-guy-officer but as the **artisan-officer** — his Devil Fruit is a *medium*, not a *weapon*. Pre-loads his post-Baroque-Works re-emergence (Impel Down, Marineford) where he wax-forges keys and casts Luffy's broken arm — both *craft applications* of the wax-art register.
- **Brogy reveals he knew Dorry was wounded throughout the duel — honor-over-mercy doctrine articulated** (pp. 16-17). Brogy: *'I knew!! From the moment we began trading blows.'* / *'I knew Dorry was hiding something!!!'* Mr. 3: *'I didn't see any hint of mercy in your attack. If you knew, then why didn't you stop the fight?'* Brogy: *'You know nothing!! He was a proud warrior who chose to fight despite his injuries! How could I shame him by refusing him battle!?'* / *'Worm, you know nothing of duels and honor. You could never understand why I cried.'* / *'How could I dishonor him by showing mercy!!?'* / *'When he was willing to suffer so in order to fight...'* **Load-bearing reframing of the Ch. 0119-0120 *Brogy unwittingly killed Dorry* tragic-irony beat**: Brogy *was not unwitting* — he saw the wound but chose to honor Dorry's commitment to the duel by fighting at full strength. The chapter installs the **Elbaf-warrior code that *mercy can be the greater dishonor*** — to *spare* a willing combatant is to *insult* his choice to fight. The tragic-irony of Ch. 120 is now retroactively *partially redeemed* — Brogy weeps because he killed his friend, but the killing was structurally consistent with the honor-doctrine both warriors lived by.
- **Brogy's *I owe my friend Dorry that much!!!* — vow-of-vengeance against Mr. 3** (p. 18). Brogy (struggling out of the candle-lock, KRAW! KREK! KRAW!!): *'I owe my friend Dorry that much!!!'* — installs Brogy's **avenge-the-friend-via-killing-the-saboteur** register, paired with his Ch. 119 *judgment of Elbaph* doctrine. The vow re-keys the *century-of-friendship-via-combat* grammar into a **post-friendship vengeance-grammar** — Brogy's first act of friendship-after-the-death-of-friendship is to destroy the agent who sabotaged the duel.
- **Zoro arrives at the wax-camp scene — first Strawhat captured-and-delivered to Mr. 3** (p. 11). Mr. 3: *'Mr. 5, bring me the swordsman and the girl!!'* THUD..!! — Mr. 5 dumps an unconscious Zoro and Nami at Mr. 3's feet. **First on-page Zoro-and-Nami delivery to the wax-execution-chamber.** Confirms the Ch. 0119 photograph-dossier hit-list operation's full sweep — Mr. 3 has now collected: Brogy (engulfed Ch. 120) + Zoro + Nami + Vivi (immobilized p. 14) + Karoo (post-torture, by extension via Vivi). Only Luffy and Usopp remain free at the wax-execution scene at chapter-end.
- **Vivi immobilized by the wax-rain — *I can't move my legs* canon** (p. 14). Vivi: *'My legs... I can't move...'* GLUP... — Mr. 3's *waxy mist* progressively immobilizes the targets. **First on-page combat application of Mr. 3's *area-effect wax-rain* against multiple immobilized targets**. The mechanism: a fine wax-mist rains down from Mr. 3's spinning candelabra-head onto victims below, who progressively harden into wax-statues from the legs up. Combat-grammar — *area-of-effect immobilization* — is distinct from the Ch. 120 *single-target wax-engulfment* (Brogy) and the Ch. 119 *targeted wax-strike* (Nami). The fruit's deployment-modes are now three-tiered: single-strike → single-engulfment → area-mist.
- **Mr. 5 reports the bounty rationale to Brogy** (p. 9). Mr. 3 (mocking Brogy): *'Did you know that the bounty on your heads from long ago... is still collectable... that colossal sum of money...'* — re-confirms the Ch. 0118 100M-berry bounty on each giant as **the operational reason Baroque Works is collecting the giants alongside Vivi**. The mission is now retroactively dual-prong: kill-the-princess + collect-the-giant-bounty. **First on-page combined-objective rationale for the Mr. 3-led Officer-Agent operation.**
- **Mr. 3 reveals to Brogy he was the saboteur** (p. 10). Mr. 3 mockingly imitates Dorry's voice over the ale: *'Aye!! Like the nectar of the gods!'* / *'Ho, Dorry!! After all these years, wasn't that ale refreshing?'* Brogy: *'The ale that I gave him? That ale!!?'* / *'Planting a bomb in Mr. Dorry's ale!!! What a cowardly trick!!!'* **First on-page direct confession of the ale-sabotage to Brogy himself** — closes the asymmetric-information gap from Ch. 0119-0120 (where Brogy did not know about the bomb). Brogy's response: *'Big mouth!!! You gave away my secret!!'* — the reveal converts Brogy's grief from *I-killed-my-friend* into *I-was-tricked-into-killing-my-friend*, which feeds directly into the vow-of-vengeance (p. 18).

Summary
The chapter opens on a personal cover-splash of Mr. 3 lounging in a jungle hammock-camp executing a handstand (p. 1) — the first Mr. 3 cover-splash in the series, framing him as a leisure-class villain. The narrative resumes immediately after Ch. 120’s combat. Mr. 5 and Miss Valentine stand over Usopp’s fallen body (p. 2), confirming Usopp is down but breathing — ‘Did you really think someone like you could escape from Baroque Works?’ (Miss Valentine, p. 2). Mr. 5 then engages Luffy in single combat (pp. 3-5): Luffy refuses to surrender (‘You caught Zolo? Then you’re doomed.’ p. 3), but Mr. 5’s booger-cannon connects (BOOM!! p. 5) and Luffy collapses. Mr. 5 and Miss Valentine depart for the wax-camp (p. 6 — ‘Let’s go, Ms. Valentine.’). Karoo (battered, WOOO) and a distant Vivi observe (p. 6, ’…!!’) — Vivi is on her feet but separated.
Cut to the wax-camp (pp. 7-10). Mr. 3 holds Brogy locked in a candle jacket — ‘The candle jacket I put on you is harder than steel by now!! Give up!!’ (p. 7). Mr. 3 mocks Brogy with cigarette-flourish theatrics — ‘In your exultation over your victory, you let down your guard… Red Ogre.’ (p. 8) — and verbally tortures him by reading the bounty-rationale (‘the bounty on your heads from long ago… is still collectable… that colossal sum of money…’ p. 9). Mr. 5 arrives carrying an unconscious Nami: ‘We caught the traitorous wench. We have her.’ (p. 9). Mr. 3 then confesses the ale-sabotage to Brogy directly by mockingly imitating Dorry’s voice over the ale (‘Aye!! Like the nectar of the gods!’ p. 10) — Brogy: ‘Planting a bomb in Mr. Dorry’s ale!!! What a cowardly trick!!!’ — closes the asymmetric-information gap from Ch. 119-120.
Mr. 3 then escalates. CANDLE LOCK!!! (p. 11, KA-CHAK) — first on-page named Doru Doru no Mi attack: wax restraints fully lock Brogy down. Mr. 3 orders Mr. 5 to deliver the swordsman and the girl (p. 11) — THUD!! — an unconscious Zoro is dumped beside Nami at the wax-camp. Then Mr. 3 begins his body-transformation (pp. 11-12) — ‘It’s time for my… …candelabra!!!! …extra special…’ GLURP!!! GA-GUUUP!! — Mr. 3’s hair-candles expand and multiply into a massive multi-tier candelabra that replaces his upper body, with multiple lit candles atop a tiered ornate wax sculpture. First on-page Mr. 3 body-transformation via his Doru Doru no Mi.
A fine waxy mist begins raining down (pp. 13-15, FWIP FWIP FWIP). The captives begin to harden into wax (p. 14 — Vivi: ‘My legs… I can’t move…’; GLUP…). Mr. 3 articulates his execution-doctrine on-page: ‘The waxy mist raining down on your heads will soon turn you into wax figures!!!’ (p. 15) / ‘You’ll be wax figures with real souls!!’ / ‘Die in the name of art!!!’ / ‘Not even my skill in the plastic arts could create such perfect human figures!!’ — load-bearing payoff of the Ch. 0120 imprison-then-execute doctrine: Mr. 3 preserves his victims as living-soul wax statues. He self-codes as a plastic-arts practitioner — wax-sculpting as fine-art.
Brogy, mistaken by Mr. 3 for the chapter’s tragic dupe, then delivers the chapter’s load-bearing reveal (pp. 16-17). Mr. 3 taunts: ‘He learned the truth a short while ago!! Without realizing his friend Dorry was hurt.’ / ‘Were you weeping for your friend, or at your own stupidity? Ha ha ha!’ / ‘I didn’t see any hint of mercy in your attack. If you knew, then why didn’t you stop the fight?’ Brogy: ‘Ha ha! You say you knew!? Ha ha! Don’t lie!!’ (Mr. 3 to Brogy) — and then Brogy himself: ’…I knew Dorry was hiding something!!!’ / ‘I knew!! From the moment we began trading blows.’ Brogy explains (p. 17): ‘You know nothing!! He was a proud warrior who chose to fight despite his injuries! How could I shame him by refusing him battle!?’ / ‘Worm, you know nothing of duels and honor. You could never understand why I cried.’ / ‘How could I dishonor him by showing mercy!!?’ / ‘When he was willing to suffer so in order to fight…’ The Elbaf-warrior code that mercy can be the greater dishonor is articulated for the first time on-page.
Brogy then attacks (p. 17, THOOM!! KRAK!!) — ‘And I shall destroy you with my own hand!!!’ — and continues struggling against the candle-lock in p. 18 (RRMMMBR! KREK! KRAW!!): ‘I owe my friend Dorry that much!!!’ Mr. 3 dispatches Brogy with a cannon-attack (KA-BOOM!!, p. 18) and dismisses him: ‘Noisy monster!!’ (p. 19).
Cut back to Luffy and Usopp (p. 19). Luffy, recovering from the booger-cannon: ‘Usopp…’ Usopp (huffing, KOF): ‘Are we gonna let them get away with this?’ Luffy: ‘No!!! No way!!!’ Karoo, also limping into the scene, contributes: ‘QUACK!!!’ Luffy: ‘Are you mad too, bird!?’ (PECK PECK PECK — Karoo pecking Luffy back to consciousness). Usopp: ’…Clobber those guys!!’ Luffy: ‘Okay!! Let’s go…’ First on-page Luffy-recovers-from-defeat-via-crewmate-voice beat — installs the captain-revived-by-crewmate-voice template that recurs in Arabasta, Enies Lobby, and Wano.

Open questions raised
- Will Brogy break out of the Candle Lock? The chapter ends with Brogy still wax-locked + struck by Mr. 3’s cannon (p. 18). Forward-canon: yes — Brogy’s vow I owe my friend Dorry that much drives the eventual breakthrough.
- Can Mr. 3 sustain the Candle Champion body-transformation indefinitely? No on-page time-limit or fatigue-mechanic shown. Forward-canon: the candelabra form is energy-expensive but sustainable for the duration of the execution-process.
- Will Vivi / Nami / Zoro / Brogy / Karoo all become wax figures with real souls? Mr. 3’s articulated execution-mode preserves their consciousness inside wax-statues (p. 15). The forward-payoff: Luffy + Usopp + Sanji (and Zoro, once he wakes) must break the wax before the final hardening completes.
- What does plastic arts mean for Mr. 3’s long-arc character? First on-page self-coding as an artisan-officer. Forward-canon: Mr. 3 will recur post-Baroque-Works (Impel Down, Marineford) where his wax-craft is deployed as a craft application — wax-keys for prison-break, wax-cast for Luffy’s broken arm — both validate the medium-not-weapon self-coding from this chapter.
- Does Brogy’s I knew admission change the moral standing of the duel? Yes — retroactively reframes the Ch. 119-120 tragic-irony. The grief is no longer about being deceived but about the loss of the friend. The honor-over-mercy doctrine is now installed for forward-canon Elbaf-saga payoff.
- What was the secret Brogy says Dorry had? (p. 10 — ‘Hmph!! You gave away my secret!!’). On-page reading: the wound. But the line is structurally ambiguous — it could also reference a deeper Elbaf-warrior tradition. Forward-canon: the secret is the wounded-warrior-honor protocol — Dorry hid his wound from Brogy out of warrior-pride; Brogy understood and respected the hiding by not acknowledging it. The line is one of the chapter’s quieter Elbaf-warrior-code installs.
- Will Luffy + Usopp + Karoo reach the wax-camp in time? Forward-canon: yes — the next chapter resumes the rescue.
