“Shangara, the Knights’ Temple, Land of the Gods” (p. 7) — the seat of the Holy Knights within the Holy Land (Mariejois). It is where King Harald is granted his Shallows Covenant (see The Covenant) by St. Garling, and where the young Figarland knights Shamrock and Shanks are stationed.

Etymology

• Shangri-La (primary): シャンガラ (Shangara) echoes Shangri-La, the fictional Himalayan paradise of James Hilton’s 1933 novel Lost Horizon — an isolated “earthly paradise” whose inhabitants age imperceptibly and live for centuries (effectively near-immortal). This maps directly onto Shangara as the “Land of the Gods” seat of the Holy Knights, whose Covenant system grants immortality to its “Devoted Blades of God” — the Depths Covenant’s immortality mechanic is shown Ch. 1168. Multiple translators flagged the Shangri-La reading on the chapter’s release.
• Shandora echo (secondary): シャンガラ (Shangara) is a near-anagram of シャンドラ (Shandora — see Shandora), the lost golden city of the Shandia. The two share シャン (shan) with only ガラ/ドラ transposed. Fans/translators flag a deliberate resonance: the modern Holy-Land temple’s name mirrors the ancient persecuted god-city. (Shandora itself derives from Sanskrit chandra, “moon.”)
• The Facebook-circulated literal gloss “Warrior’s Shrine” is unsourced and is not adopted here.
