Minion Island
- Name
- ミニオン島 (Minion-tō)
- Region
- North Blue
- First seen
- Ch. 765
- Name meaning
- Named for the **Minion**, an English ship in the fleet at the **Battle of San Juan de Ulúa (1568)** — the engagement that made the young **Sir Francis Drake** (who captained the *Judith* there) the namesake of X Drake. Its two neighbour islands, Swallow and Rubeck (← *Jesus of Lübeck*), come from the same fleet. The cluster is therefore a hidden **Drake-family** monogram: it is the island where the ex-Marine **Diez Barrels** (X Drake's father, per SBS 78) holds the Op-Op Fruit. English 'minion' also denotes a servile underling — apt for a ghost-town hideout. JP ミニオン (Minion) is a direct transliteration.

Profile
A North Blue island — the chapter’s titular “Isle of Fate.” A ruined ghost town on it is used as a hideout by Diez Barrels’ pirate crew, who keep the Op-Op Fruit there. It lies to the east of Rubeck Island; the Navy has a scout ship monitoring it. It is the site where the Op-Op Fruit changes hands when Corazon silently infiltrates and burns the base, stealing the fruit to cure the dying child Law (p. 8, pp. 11–17).
Etymology
Minion ← the English ship Minion, one of John Hawkins’ fleet at the Battle of San Juan de Ulúa (1568), where a young Sir Francis Drake captained the Judith. Oda built this entire North-Blue cluster from that battle’s ships: neighbouring Swallow (the ship Swallow) and Rubeck (← Jesus of Lübeck). Because Francis Drake is the real-world namesake of X Drake, the cluster is a covert Drake monogram — fitting, since X Drake’s father Diez Barrels holds the Op-Op Fruit here (father–son confirmed in SBS Vol. 78). English minion additionally means a servile underling/lackey, a wry tag for a ghost-town pirates’ den. See Diez Barrels and the Drake-Fleet Islands Encode X Drakes Parentage.
