Rubeck Island
- Name
- ルーベック島 (Rūbekku-tō)
- Region
- North Blue
- First seen
- Ch. 765
- Name meaning
- **Rubeck** (ルーベック, *Rūbekku*) ← **Lübeck**, from the English flagship **Jesus of Lübeck** at the **Battle of San Juan de Ulúa (1568)** — the same battle that names its neighbours Minion and Swallow (both English ships in that fleet). The fleet's young captain **Sir Francis Drake** (the *Judith*) is the real-world namesake of X Drake, whose father Diez Barrels holds the Op-Op Fruit in this cluster — so the three island names form a hidden Drake-family monogram.
North Blue · first appeared: Ch. 765
Profile
A North Blue island where the Op-Op Fruit deal between Diez Barrels and the Navy is set to take place, ~3 weeks out; Corazon is meant to meet Doflamingo and the crew here. Minion Island lies to its east (p. 8).
Etymology
Rubeck ← Lübeck, the German port carried in the name of the English flagship Jesus of Lübeck at the Battle of San Juan de Ulúa (1568). Its neighbour islands Minion and Swallow are named for two more ships of that same fleet. The fleet’s young captain Sir Francis Drake is the real-world namesake of X Drake, whose father Diez Barrels sets the Op-Op Fruit deal here (father–son confirmed in SBS Vol. 78) — making the three island names a covert Drake monogram. See Diez Barrels and the Drake-Fleet Islands Encode X Drakes Parentage.
