The seed

The newspaper says Moria died in the war, but two people who were there flatly disbelieve it: Mihawk (“this article doesn’t sound very believable”) and Perona (“he was alive the last time I saw him on the battlefield”). The reader already saw Doflamingo corner Moria in a Marineford back alley to erase him as a “war casualty” on someone-higher-up’s orders (Ch. 581). The published obituary is therefore the cover-story for an attempted government purge — leaving open whether Moria escaped. Seed planted @0592, pp. 2-3.

Why this matters
