Why this matters

Oda’s Elbaf runs a wholesale, function-predictive Norse overlay: Ragnir (Ragnarök + Mjölnir), Ratatoskr (Yggdrasil’s squirrel), Loki’s Níðhöggr dragon form, the Yggdrasil-coded Adam tree. “Nibelheim” is another case where the name pre-announces the mechanic — Niflheim = the ice world → Loki’s lightning is ice-powered — so the technique name at first appearance (1171) is a readable spoiler for the reveal (1182). Generalize: when Oda names an Elbaf technique after a specific Norse realm/being, expect that realm’s defining property (ice, fire, death) to be the literal mechanic, not mere flavor.
