The grave-robbing dramatized. Oden ’s flashback shows that Ryuma ’s grave in Ringo was ransacked ~24 yrs ago amid a clash between the “Gecko Pirates” (Moria ’s crew, the Thriller Bark Pirates ) and the Animal Kingdom Pirates — the in-story origin of how Gecko Moria obtained Ryuma’s corpse and Shusui , and why Kin’emon later demands the national treasure’s return.
Gyukimaru , the bridge bandit, takes Zoro ’s black blade Shusui after wounding him (flashback); Zoro resolves to get it back. The stolen-Shusui situation continues (Shusui is the blade grave-robbed from the Wano national hero Ryuma ). Seed stays pending (the actual return pays off forward).
Shusui’s status as Ryuma ’s grave-sword / Wano National Treasure is reaffirmed by Gyukimaru , the Bandit’s-Bridge warrior-monk who holds the blade and refuses to surrender it to Zoro (“You cannot possibly understand the value of the great Shusui!!!”) — sharpening the tension between Wano’s claim on the blade and Zoro’s wish to keep it as his third sword. In Ringo , a weapon-collecting bandit/monk has returned the famed Shusui to the grave of the legendary samurai Ryuma “from which it was most callously stolen.” The blade is physically restored to Ryuma’s grave, and Zoro pursues the bandit — the grievance escalates toward Zoro’s eventual restitution. Seed stays pending (the actual return pays off forward).
A Wano Magistrate states Ryuma ’s remains and the blade Shusui were grave-robbed 23 years ago “in the midst of a pirate upheaval,” and accuses Zoro (holder of Shusui) of the theft — the public Wano grievance over Shusui surfaces inside Wano itself, escalating the @0699/@0702 demand. Kin’emon recognizes “the blade on your waist as SHUSUI , the sword of the great Ryuma Zoro a grave-robber, and rages “The grave-robbing of Wano’s national hero traumatized our land!!!” Zoro: “HUH?!!” First time Shusui’s status as Wano’s stolen national treasure is put to him directly — locking Shusui as Wano’s national treasure and seeding its eventual return.
The demand escalates into an explicit future-duel pledge : Kin’emon reveals Shusui is “a national treasure of Wano ” and vows “I will one day duel you, that I might return Shusui to Wano where it belongs!! ” Zoro flatly refuses — “Uh, no, it’s MY sword. It is not yours!!” A chekhov-explicit duel-vow that hardens the @0699 seed into a named obligation.
