Why it matters
First on-page hard timeline for Alabasta’s drought. Aligns with the Crocodile will take over timeline (Ch. 130) and the two-year-old Nanohana Dance Powder Incident (Ch. 161 p. 11). The three-year-drought + two-year-rebellion-timeline establishes the saga’s slow-motion conquest register — Crocodile has been working this plot for years.
The three-year timeline is also the King’s Miracle timeline (Alubarna alone received rain across these same three years). The hard count makes the anomaly’s statistical implausibility load-bearing — the people’s loss-of-faith in the king is the rational response to an objectively impossible rainfall pattern they could only explain by assuming royal interference. Crocodile’s plot weaponizes a statistical anomaly into a moral indictment.
